Soccer Mommy + SASAMI Release Covers of The Cars & System Of A Down for Singles Series

Behold, the latest songs of the Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series! Following collabs with the likes of Jay Som and Gentle Dom, today’s release features SASAMI. In what is the final installment of the singles series, Soccer Mommy does a cover of The Cars’ “Drive” and SASAMI tackles the System of a Down classic, “Toxicity.”

Sophie Allison/Soccer Mommy said of putting out her version of The Cars’ track:

I’m really glad to get to release this cover of drive. It’s a song I’ve loved for a long time that I started covering pretty recently. It was nice to get to record one last thing in the studio before everything shut down.

SASAMI added:

The choice of covering System of a Down’s “Toxicity” wasn’t really a deep one, but I do believe that now is a time of acuity in indetifying the toxicity in our society. Toni Cade Bambara said “The role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible,” and I’m definitely seeking the kind of art that centers that focus.
