Latter is a Chicago based band composed by the duo, Meredith Haines, singer and Jonathan Alvarado, drummer. The band was formed in 2022, what started out as jamming together has turned into an up and coming band sparking attention in local music scene. Latter is a noise rock genre showcasing raw emotions and pushing the boundaries of vulnerability throughout this genre.
According to Latter, “Expiration Date” is a song about getting older and feeling the time being limited. This stigma is already expressed in the media and society that at a certain age, you are running out of time to achieve your dreams. Feelings of overloaded anxiety are presented and can feel a heavy weight to be lifted off one’s shoulder. Latter takes the approach to break the barrier of this fear by facing it right in front and evokes emotions for listeners to take the leap forward in their own hands.
…….: Chicago Local Band Latter breaks down the fear of time in their Latest Single, “Expiration Date”Earlier this year, Latter released their first single off their upcoming EP, What Lives Inside of Me set to be released on July 25th. The band’s anticipated EP has built excitement following their earlier single, “Hope You Love Her” , a song that captures the pain and lasting impact of toxic relationships on the journey of moving forward. Through the heavy instrumental rhythm, listeners can relate to feeling of betrayal from a loved one . When it comes to heartbreak, it is a universal feeling we can all relate to and the need to allow yourself to be honest and authentic through pain is the only way to move forward.
Latter has announced a U.S tour, What Lives Inside Of Me this summer touring across multiple cities. The bands will have multiple artists join the list, especially inviting another Chicago local noise punk band, NUDE, to join for a few dates.
