‘Princess Forever,’ the long-awaited sophomore effort from Chicago’s own Dreamer Isioma has finally arrived.
This album comes after a lengthy yet incredibly immersive rollout that featured singles, videos, a tour announcement and practically everything in between culminating in an art installation-esque album release party.
We at Pursuit of Dopeness have been lucky enough to witness it all and cannot be more impressed with the quality of this record. ‘Princess Forever’ is an eclectic collection of tracks that are equally satisfying both sonically and conceptually.
Dreamer has cited the work of jazz composer Sun Ra and author Octavia E. Butler as influential catalysts to the science fiction themes ‘Princess Forever’ embodies.
The lyrical motifs of love, apocalypse and mental clarity display this record’s conceptual maturity well and prove he is plenty worthy to be amongst some of today’s greats.

“Dumb In Love With You”
Even though it was the first single off the album, it’s hard not to include it in our top five. Initially dropping last October “Dumb In Love With You” gave us our first glimpse into the world of ‘Princess Forever’ through a beautifully sweet and sublime love song.
“Gimme A Chance”
“Gimme A Chance” is a favorite for the track’s producer Saint Lewis, and rightfully so as this one fuckin’ rocks. The track lyrically is about acceptable and follows that narrative in its sonic elements. Additionally the video directed by Dreamer Isioma & Jared Avalos goes crazy.
“Love & Rage”
A personal favorite for simply how infectious the chorus is. There of course is plenty other elements to give this track its flowers for, but it’s undoubtedly a danceable track.
“Z’s Lullaby”
“Z’s Lullaby” is incredibly smooth while Dreamer sounds awesome on it vocally. He describes love at first sight and everything about it is so sweet.
“Venus Venus Mars”
This track thematically follows the journey at hand and the narrative elements focus on what this project was truly about. This song is dope and a culmination of what makes this project so great.
It was incredibly hard narrowing this list down to just five and the whole project is truly worth a listen.
