POD Photos: Summer Smash 2022 – Day 2

Saturday kicked off with SPKRBX’s slot contest winners as well as Chicago talents KatieGotBandz, Supa Bwe, and Dreamer Isioma. All three of these sets showcased acts that represent the beautiful culture and energy that the Chicago music scene is comprised of.

Femdot continued the trend of Chicago-based artists in a commanding and confident fashion as he ran through cuts from ‘94 Camry Music’ and his latest full-length effort ‘Not for Sale’. Fem always puts on a wonderful show, don’t miss an opportunity to see him if it presents itself.

G Herbo put on a wildly dope set to start wrapping up the afternoon as he ran through hits such as “Kill Shit” and “Swervo” as well as the immensely popular cut with Nardo Wick “Who Want Smoke??”. Herbo never fails to impress as a confident and relaxed performer.

Pouts & Fat Nick’s performance was one of my highlights of the weekend as the Florida natives featured a dope set that teleported me back to my SoundCloud-loving high school years. These guys undoubtedly made their mark in modern hip-hop and a dope crowd pulled up to Lenny’s Tent Stage to offer the duo the appreciation and energy they deserve.

Ski Mask the Slump God is seemingly a lock for every year’s Summer Smash and I can guarantee that very few attendees are mad about that. Ski brings his best self to every set as his high energy discography perfectly complements the chaotic Summer Smash environment. A packed SPKRBX Stage crowd went wild for him as he ran through songs such as “Nuketown”, “Faucet Failure”, and “Take a Step Back”. If you’ve never seen Ski live before, be sure to change that ASAP.

Headlining day two was the New York-born superstar Post Malone. Posty’s hour-long set gave him ample time to both energize the massive crowd as well as pull on every single attendees’ heart strings. Post and his acoustic guitar deeply connected to the thousands of festival-goers that attended his headlining set on Saturday night. The range of emotion throughout this set was too dope, Post was able to take the festival on a journey throughout his discography with style and ease.
