Album Review – Our Top 3 Tracks on ‘then i’ll be happy’ by glaive & ericdoa

Longtime collaborators and hyperpop superstars glaive and ericdoa have joined forces to create their first official collaborative EP to cement themselves as forces to reckon with in both hyperpop and mainstream pop spaces.

‘then i’ll be happy’ bridges the border of these two genres so that it appeases both fans of the sound and casual listeners in a way that is totally non-offensive. Many tracks here give me boy-band energy while simultaneously inhibiting the more edgy and abrasive aspects of modern day hip-hop and hyperpop. Tracks like ‘mental anguish’ and ‘cloak n dagger’ really exemplify their chemistry going back and forth synonymously with each verse. In short, this project is just really fun and I think almost any listener can find something on this project that they can jam out to.

For those previously aware of our album reviews, we usually list the top five tracks but since this EP is just eighth songs total I figured I’d slim that number to three. Without further ado below are our top three tracks from ‘then i’ll be happy’ by glaive & ericdoa !

mental anguish – This track exhibits the vocal talent of both glaive and ericdoa while having an extremely infectious chorus. The production stays true to their hyperpop roots as well featuring both distorted bass and trap drums during the choruses. As mentioned before their chemistry on this track is synonymous as glaive nor ericdoa outshine the other.

handle me – One thing that glaive and ericdoa do well on this track and many others is how summery and bright the production can be while simultaneously having lyrics of teenage anguish and heartbreak. Excluding that this track is just super catchy and fun.

Cloak n dagger – Although this track may be old news to some as it was released earlier this year as a single and skyrocketed this duo into stardom, I would view it as disrespectful to not mention it in my favorite tracks from the tape. The track is super spiteful yet has its fair share of braggadocio, definitely the breakup anthem of the year.
