This past weekend Chinese-American artist and producer SEBii has released yet another EP under this moniker, this time titled “VVBLUE.” Although this EP only spans a mere seven tracks with a runtime of around 18 minutes, it is very clear that SEBii has progressed vocally and production wise from his previous work.
The vocals on this EP are extremely pitched and the production is wildly glitched similar to that of a Playboi Carti, but don’t misinterpret that statement, as this project is quite different stylistically to anything Playboi Carti has given us. Tracks like “breakOUT” and “i needa know” have extremely infectious choruses and are pure ear candy.
I often find myself turned off to the hyperpop genre due to lack of proper mixing or developed production, but this EP has restored my faith for the future of this genre and I would strongly recommend this EP for those attempting to find a gateway into it.
