On Friday, September 4, Reggies hosted the iconic event, Indie Night, created by the Tampa based band, Rohan. The event hones in on building a community surrounded by the passion for the undying genre that has captured everyone’s heart, no matter their age, indie rock. The tour began earlier this summer, traveling across several cities with Chicago being one of its stops. The event showcases Chicago local scene as a growing community, particularly through its love for indie rock. Indie Night drew a massive crowd and featured local bands such as Lace for Leisure, Runner and Bobby and Dogs with Hats onto the iconic stage many Chicagoans are familiar. The local indie scene is ever growing nowadays and this event shines the opportunities for emerging artists to hit the bigger stage. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just hearing about these bands, it was a night that made history for the local scene within Chicago.
LACE FOR LEISURE
Formed in Chicago in 2024, Lace For Leisure influences the effortless beat of both rock and upbeat indie pop that makes the band find its roots alongside their latest single, “Roses” released in June. The femme-front band showcased a dreamy performance that left fans speechless through the night. The combination of reverb guitar tune, volin roots, tempo bass line crafted a tune that lays similarities of early indie pop bands such as, Big Thief and Radiohead. The band opened the night with performances from their discography such as their hit single, “Sylvie” and songs off their latest debut album, ‘It’s a Gift, It’s a Cage’. The band expressed their endless appreciation of kicking off the night and their tunes surely kept the crowd yearning from their unique sound that shapes like no other.
RUNNER AND BOBBY
Runner and Bobby is a four-piece indie rock band based in Chicago. The band showcases their tunes through scratchy guitar riffs, smooth bass line and stellar upbeat drums throughout their whole discography. Runner and Bobby amplified the audience with the recognitions of the significance the local scene carries in such a unique energy, references of endless “colors”, and then played their song, “Colors” from their second album, ‘Adoring a Friend’ released earlier this year. During their set, frontman, Parker Bailey, expressed gratitude and addressed the importance it is to look out for one another within the local scene. To create music is a joyful experience that does not go unnoticed and provides the opportunity for joy to shine through fans to hold close to their hearts.
ROHNA
Formed in 2019, Rohna, is five-piece indie alternative band all the way from Tampa, Florida. Fellow bandmate, Andres Hernandez, paves the way for curation of this event, Indie Night, with the main focus to showcase local indie bands across the states. The band jumped into full swing with high kicks and breathtaking energy that left fans head banginig their way through the crowd. The band undeniable stage presence amplifies their blend of indie alternative with genres such as psychedelic rock, punk rock, and emo rock. To pay homage to the Indie genre, the band covered hit single from Arctic Monkeys, “505” encouraging fans to sing their hearts out throughout their performances and night.
DOGS WITH HATS
Formed in 2024, Dogs with Hats is an indie rock based in Chicago that started off the local scene performing in DIY house shows around the city. The band ties their underlying appreciation to the local indie scene adding on a mix of garage rock into their discography. In 2025, the band debuted their EP titled, ‘Lampshades at the Party’, and have continued to perform throughout the city marking their mark and headline Indie Night event as one incredible milestone for the band. Dog with Hats kept fans eagerly excited closing the night and showed support for the entire event pulling bands they admire. The band continues to grow in their journey, it’s the moment being able to take the stage venues in the city that drew inspiration that makes, Dogs with Hats up and coming band to keep on your radar.
Indie Night continues to highlight the importance of appreciating local music scene, especially across different cities through community engagement showcased online. Music has a special way of bringing people together and this event creates a space where people can discover new artists, connect with others and find their next favorite song.
