J. Cole Shares New Song “Snow on Tha Bluff”

J. Cole has released his first new song of 2020. The track is called “Snow On Tha Bluff,” and it’s mostly one huge verse that largely and strangely takes shots at Noname.

The current climate has shined a light on the major artists in the music and entertainment industry that haven’t used their platform or status to speak on or advocate for the black lives matter movement in light of George Floyd’s death, and the injustice of police brutality. Noname called out artists who have made careers of expressing their thoughts on the black experience, but aren’t vocal when the moments calls for it… which I guess got to Cole?

Though he doesn’t say who he’s referring to, it’s hard not to infer that lines like “She mad at the celebrities, low key I be thinkin’ she talking bout me” and “But shit, it’s something about the queen tone that’s bothering me” could be about anyone else. While Cole did a whole verse, Noname only responded in a since-deleted tweet with: “QUEEN TONE!!!!!!”

Kinda wild that this is the direction he’s taking with this issue.
