Recap: Joseph Chilliams @ Lincoln Hall

posted by Rosario Edwards January 13, 2018

Lincoln Hall was full of good vibes last night as Joseph Chilliams and company took the stage.

First of the female rap duo Mother Nature took the stage and brought the crowds energy way up. Their style is unique in that they are both socially conscious as well as in your face and the vibe was downright fun. Not that those things are mutually exclusive but to see two MC’s on stage talking about society’s problems while making the crowd bounce and groove is a rare site. Continue Reading

Joseph Chilliams Shares Video for “Fergie”

posted by Oscar January 10, 2018

Pivot Gang’s own Joseph Chilliams has released a dope new video for his song “Fergie.” The visual takes inspiration from Napoleon Dynamite, focusing mainly on that iconic scene towards the end during which that leading character struts his best moves at the school assembly.

Chilliams has always been POD’s favorite dancer and his videos are just as important as his music, so it’s safe to say we are seriously vibing with this one. If Summer was checking this one out live now, I bet she’d be impressed. Check out the music video above.

Chilliams will be headlining Heineken’s “Open Your City” event at Lincoln Hall here in the Chi tomorrow 1/11 – tickets available here.

Video: Joseph Chilliams feat. Sen Morimoto – “Toothbrushes”

posted by Oscar October 12, 2017

Joseph Chilliams’ got a new video out, this time it’s for his track “Toothbrushes” featuring Sen Morimoto. Pivot Gang’s most eccentric member gave his Henry Church joint the visual treatment, where we see him making use of an oversized toothbrush, sliding and macking smoothly on a church pew, and eating Tony’s frosted flakes while some neighborhood kids do their thing playing around with water guns.

Chilliams has also revealed that he will be joining Saba on the latter’s European tour later this month and into November. See the brothers play in cities like Dublin, London, Paris, and Berlin.

posted by Oscar August 24, 2017

Today’s the day we finally get blessed with Joseph Chilliams’ debut album, Henry Church! The Pivot Gang member has long been a POD-favorite since we first saw him bust some moves at Reggie’s many years ago, and our wait for this moment has been completely proved to be worthwhile from the second I pushed play on this project.

Chilliams’ imaginative, quirky, creative bars are the perfect thing to fill your earballs with what will surely be your new favorite sounds.

Henry Church has guest features from fellow Pivot Gang members MfnMelo and Saba plus the late, great dinnerwithjohn, as well as Noname, Supa Bwe, Add-2, and Jamila Woods, among others.

POD Photos: SXSW 2017 – Day 3 feat. French Montana, Cam’ron, Noname, Warm Brew

posted by Oscar March 22, 2017

Day 3 of SXSW 2017 was packed with dope showcases throughout downtown Austin, which helped give us that much more to choose from regarding the artists we’d want to see for the night… but that also made it so much more difficult to decide on an action plan because the lineups were insane pretty much everywhere, so having to choose the right showcase carried so much more weight.

But that’s when it helps to have a squad in ATX, so while I went over to the House Of Vans/Fake Shore Drive showcase at the Mohawk that boasted a stacked lineup of some of Chicago’s best talent plus French Montana headlining, Alex and Alberto (AKA ) made their way to Easy Tiger for TuneIn’s that featured none other than Dipset’s own, Cam’ron!

Take a look at the highlights of Day 3 of SXSW below. Continue Reading
