Sen Morimoto Announces New Self-Titled Album, Shares Lead Single ‘Woof”

Do you want to know why Chicago’s still so raw? Set your gaze on multi-instrumentalist composer/rapper/artist, Sen Morimoto.

The Chicago artist is announcing today his self-titled sophomore album, due out October 23rd via Sooper Records. The record will also serve to highlight the local scene that continues brewing in the Chi, with features from artists like Lala Lala, NNAMDÏ, KIANA, Joseph Chilliams, and Qari. Also making contributions to Sen Morimoto are National Youth Poet Laureate Kara Jackson and Japanese electronic musician AAAMYYY.

To help preview the album, Sen Morimoto has shared the lead single and its music video directed by New Trash. Check out “Woof” below.

About the album, Sen says via the press release:

Thematically, the album explores self-examination-the way reality breaks the distortion of subjective experience. Focusing on minutia, the album highlights the ways that our learned habits, such as shameful desires and righteous ideals, are inherited by everyday motions of modern American life. The grotesque and ignored emerging in dreams, begin to inform a cruel reality. Touring through a world on a wire, my dreams, in harrowing vibrant color, began to cross the threshold into my waking life. My self-titled album comes as a statement from somewhere in between those two worlds.
