Chicago Fire Unveil 2017 Secondary Kit

posted by Oscar February 6, 2017

Our fair city’s favorite soccer club, the Chicago Fire have revealed their Secondary kit for the forthcoming 2017 season. The club is celebrating its 20th season and for their “Away” jersey they took inspiration from the tone at the center of the logo.

Some of the notable kit details include the jocktag that reads “Est. 1997,” crossed axes on back neck tape that match the primary kit, and six-pointed red stars lifted from Chicago municipal flag on sleeve trim as well as socks.

Chicago Fire Release 2016 Primary Jersey

Chicago Fire 2016 Primary Kit

Oh my beloved Chicago Fire… Chicago’s once-great soccer team the Fire today have unveiled their primary jersey for the upcoming 2016 season. The design is, again, underwhelming; it looks more like a training kit than anything else. While it was good to see the team’s “Home” shirt is bringing back the white bar across the chest, it sure isn’t cool to see new sponsor Valspar fill that spot as opposed to how “Fire” was emblazoned in the club’s early years. Look, I get it with the Valspar, but it doesn’t look cool on the shirt.

The saving points are the small details on the kit, including the words “Live Red” on the inside of the shirt collar, an embossed City of Chicago municipal flag, and the crossing fireman’s axes. Those original, custom-designed features are a cool addition, but they don’t save it. Somehow, even with the complaints, it’s somehow better than last year’s…

Adidas, please have something special cooked up for the secondary kit… See more shots of the shirt below. Continue Reading

Video: Mike Magee’s Day Off

posted by Oscar July 16, 2014

The World Cup may be over but there’s no reason to stop loving the “beautiful game” if you’re a soccer fan living stateside, so KickTV and Mike Magee (Chicago Fire forward and reigning league MVP) have put together an excellent spot to remind you to continue following the sport by supporting the MLS. The short is a parody on the iconic 80’s film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off with Mike Magee playing the central character that takes the day off of training by faking being sick. The clip also features the LA Galaxy’s Omar Gonzalez, Sydney Leroux, Hope Solo, NY Red Bulls’ Thierry Henry, Bruce Arena and other figures of the league.

Using the Fire faithful part of the “float scene” from the movie is the icing on the cake for us. See it above and some outtakes & deleted scenes below. Continue Reading
