The Symposium returned to their hometown with a triumphant sold-out aftershow at Chicago’s iconic dive bar, The Empty Bottle, on Friday, August 1st. Just a day after headlining Lollapalooza’s opening night, the Chicago local legends brought their energy to a more intimate setting to give fans a night to remember.
The band performed at the Lolla stage for the first time. This marked a huge milestone for the band that spent years shaping Chicago’s indie scene. Their rise from local favorite to Lolla stage was met with a high level of enthusiasm from longtime fans, and Friday night’s show was the cherry on top.
The night was filled with excitement and a sense of gratitude, both from the band and the crowd. The Symposium took fans on a journey through their discography, blending nostalgic classics with new material. Highlights included crowd favorites like “Blade”, “ACL” and “Half Life”. They even brought on “John Myrtle” who opened the night to come join the stage with the band to fill in playing a song and chatted how incredible his music and the fact he can play left handed bass. The night carried with an electrifying encore with the song, “Physical Attractions” leaving fans dancing and singing well into the night.
The Symposium released an instrumental EP titled, Songs From the Void on July 18th. Be sure to catch them as they gear up for their next run of shows on the West Coast tour next month.
