Paramore Announce New Album and Share New Song/Video, “This Is Why”

After a 5 year hiatus, Paramore (and Hayley Williams’ red hair) are back! As had been promised a couple weeks ago on social media, Paramore are sharing a new song entitled “This Is Why” along with today’s announcement of forthcoming new album of the same name.

“This Is Why” has a really dope bass groove and the gloomy vibe is similar to the sounds we heard and loved on Hayley Williams’ Petal For Armor that got punched up by the rest of the squad to usher in a new Paramore era.

The track arrives along with a music video directed by Turnstile’s Brendan Yates and filmed in Malibu, California this past August. Williams shared some words via a press release about how this visual came to life and working with Yates:

It was so rad working with Brendan. I’ve known the Turnstile guys for a little while and was so psyched to have our worlds collide in this way. There’s a cool kinship between the way our bands do things… Hopefully we will get to play shows with them at some point.

This Is Why will arrive February 10 via Atlantic Records. Check out Paramore’s new song/music video, “This Is Why” above.PRE-ORDER THIS IS WHY HERE

The new song arrives just after the band announced an intimate NYC show.

Hayley Williams also stated about the track :

‘This Is Why’ was the very last song we wrote for the album. To be honest, I was so tired of writing lyrics but Taylor convinced Zac and I both that we should work on this last idea. What came out of it was the title track for the whole album. It summarizes the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last 3 or 4 years. You’d think after a global pandemic of fucking biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something.
