POD Photos: Lollapalooza 2022 – Day 1

Day 1 was a great start to Lollapalooza 2022 thanks to a headlining set from Metallica, who showed us exactly how you close out the opening day of a festival.

The Metal icons thrashed their way through fan favorites like “Fade To Black,” “Enter Sandman,” “One,” and their cover of Thin Lizzy’s “Whiskey In The Jar.” The biggest moment of the evening came with their hotly anticipated performance of “Master Of Puppets,” which brought out tons of new fans thanks to its inclusion in one of the climactic scenes of the season finale of Stranger Things – a short clip of that played on the big screens, fooling many of us into thinking that maybe Eddie Munson himself, Joseph Quinn would be making a surprise appearance.

Jazmine Sullivan, Tove Lo, and Pi’erre Bourne were also dope.

Though your boy was given access to the fest as media, that pass didn’t allow me to bring in my pro gear so I had to cover Lolla basically as a fan, but that wasn’t going to keep me from snapping some decent pics. Equipped with my Sony RX100 VII point-and-shoot, I hit the pits every day and every set as early as I could to get in a spot where I can shoot photos of the action so I can put together these daily photo galleries.
