Friday officially started the weekend and Riot Fest was immediately jumping with absurd amounts of energy. For enthusiasts who’ve been patiently waiting for the return of this infamous festival, Friday’s hot weather proved to be no obstacle in the way of a great time. Friday’s lineup presented a dope range of artists that offered any type of music fan something to enjoy; this quality is surely one of the many reasons why Riot Fest is appreciated by so many.
The 3PM Rebel Stage slot impressed as Jackie Hayes’ and her energetic band worked to secure a memorable afternoon appearance that marked her first festival set. Following Hayes’ set, Anti-Flag had a massive fanbase show up for their set under the beating sun; these Pittsburg natives really know how to amp up the energy. Sublime with Rome was a relaxing change of pace before Lupe Fiasco, NOFX, and The Smashing Pumpkins would offer amazing headlining sets on their respective stages. The intricately curated lineup offered so many dope options throughout the weekend but I felt as though Friday offered fans an especially wonderful mix of music to enjoy.
