Video: The Strokes Tease New Album at New Year’s Show, Debut New Song “Ode to the Mets”

For the first post of the year/decade, I’m glad to be writing about my favorite band The Strokes. The NYC band headlined a New Year’s Eve show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center as a makeup for the Governors Ball date that got cancelled due to weather, and they sure as hell made up for that.

At one point during the band’s set as fans in the front rows yelled out for performances off 2011’s Angles, frontman Julian Casablancas replies with “I don’t want to do a song from Angles… what about a new song? We’ve got a new album coming out soon.” He then added “2020, here we come. We took the 2010s, whatever the fuck they’re called, we took ’em off. But now we’ve been unfrozen and we’re back.”

What a way to debut a new track live! I’m jealous of everybody that was in that room. See it all go down in the video above.
