I like this news. I legit had no clue about who or what a Khruangbin was when I saw the name listed on this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival lineup, but when that day arrived I lined up with the other photographers and had one of those moments where you kinda get mad at yourself for not having found out about them sooner.

And now, I’ve got something fresh to listen to from this Texan outfit thanks to their new partnership with Leon Bridges. Khruangbin and Bridges have announced today they’re coming out with a collaborative EP entitled Texas Sun which will be released February 7th on Dead Oceans, in partnership with Columbia Records and Night Time Stories Ltd.

The news comes with the first taste of that EP thanks to the title track. The song absolutely evokes so many of those feelings you can think of when you call a track “Texas Sun,” with a soothingly warm feel to the production plus flamenco guitar licks spiced with some twang. If you come from the lone star state, or even if you’re just a fan, you’ve got yourself a brilliant new song to soundtrack life out there.
