Manchester City Reveal 2019-20 Home & Away Kits, The First of Their Partnership with PUMA

Manchester City had an incredible domestic season, claiming an unprecedented record for the men’s game in England that garnered all four titles that were up for grabs. The follow-up to that season will see them compete for silverware in new home & away garbs now provided by PUMA as part of their new partnership.

Featuring the club’s 125th anniversary crest, the home kit draws inspiration from the city’s industrial heritage while paying a nod to the cultural impact of the local cotton mills, which were integral to the industrial revolution in Manchester. The City blue shirt features a wave pattern, a visual representation of the looms, and for the first time the color purple on a home shirt by way of the highlights on the shoulders as well as the sponsors.

The 2019/20 Away kit celebrates the northern city’s culturally significant “Madchester” years, directly inspired by former nightclub, The Haçienda, which was once an epicentre for emerging music, bands, DJs, and artists. The shirt is black and features features yellow stripes on the left shoulder in reference of the iconography on the interior of the famed nightclub. Though I’m a Man United fan myself, I appreciate a team representing their city any time they could.
