The Riv in Uptown hosted German duo Milky Chance and welcomed them with a jam-packed theater. The band came out to a roaring crowd that was ecstatic just from being in their presence, which was a great way to set the mood for the rest of the show.
Lead singer Clemens Rehbein may appear a bit chill and reserved with his onstage demeanor, but when it was time to hit a solo, he would sleekly shuffle to the side to do a dance and play to the crowd.
The place would light up when the band’s essentials were performed, audible woos and arm waving being triggered for songs like “Flashed Junk Mind,” “Down By The River,” What was also refreshing was how much fans appeared to be delighted by the performances they were witnessing, staring at the figures under the spotlights with glee, and hardly any phones in the air. Dancing without Snapchatting your every step sure looked like the wise choice.
“Stolen Dance” during the encore absolutely brought the house down with their signature hit ushered in with the fans’ roars. “Sweet Sun” was definitely the right track to close out their set, which featured the duo exchanging licks on guitar and harmonica respectively as they jammed the night away.
