Andrew WK Takes Over Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, Shares New Track “Ever Again”

posted by Oscar January 29, 2018

Andrew WK is taking over Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show right now [apple.co/zane] and the ambassador to all rocking, hard partying made use of his time there to share his new track “Ever Again” as today’s World Record.

The sit-in host for today covered a number of topics, including how his new song “Ever Again” explores the idea that music is the answer to everything (and worth living for), the beauty of partying, and he also shared an Elton John story. The story was about how his very first performance was a terrible live audition during which he played a song he absolutely didn’t know: “Rocket Man.”

Andrew WK isn’t everyone’s spiritual animal for nothing, and he always finds a way to prove why he’s worthy of that title. This was best exemplified when he said the following: “I want to empower you with the feeling of pure optimistic energy so you can climb the mountains of life and plant your flag proudly at the top declaring it’s good to not be dead.”

Hear “Ever Again” below. Continue Reading

St. Vincent Releases New Song “Pills” + Announces 2018 Tour

posted by Oscar October 10, 2017

Today we have received another offering from St. Vincent’s forthcoming album, Masseduction. The new song is entitled “Pills” and it premiered as the World Record on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show.

Annie Clark spoke to Lowe about the conception of track, and how she worked on it with Jack Antonoff (Bleachers; Fun.) while also recruiting Cara Delevingne and Jenny Lewis to offer some vocal parts and Kamasi Washington plays sax. The song has this sort of demented, upbeat vibe that rides along for the majority of its run, until just before the 3-minute mark where the desired effect of those pills some to kick in to close off the performance with a more serene feel.

Masseduction will be released on October 14 via Loma Vista Recordings. Hear “Pills” and find her newly-announced 2018 tour dates (with pre-sale info) below. Continue Reading

Listen up, ballbags! The #1 show in late night‘s most recent guest was none other than (the GOAT) Zane Lowe. Desus & Mero interviewed Lowe about his move to Apple Music for Beats 1, his biggest interviews to date, interviews that didn’t see the light of day, performing at Wembley Stadium, delving into creating his own dance records, and more. Lowe also had some dope lines in his talk with BX’s finest that would’ve been great “rainbows,” but at the end you’ll see he still delivered one worth remembering.

Arcade Fire Release New Song/Video: “Electric Blue”

posted by Oscar July 13, 2017

Arcade Fire keep unrolling their new project, Everything Now, delivering today new song “Electric Blue” along with its music video. The band’s latest offering, the fourth and final advance track, stars Régine Chassagne on lead vocals comes equipped with an almost-childish weep accenting the beat, as a 90s. The song premiered today via Apple Music as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1.

In the visual we find Chassagne roaming the streets as a cleanup crew collects waste on a boulevard in metro area, in the aftermath of a Mardi Gras parade where you’ll find all kinds of trash and colorful bead necklaces adorning the pavement. The hazy video also takes good advantage of the flashing lights coming from the official’s vehicles, helping Chassagne shine bright as she performs the song. Check out the video above.

Everything Now will be released July 28 on CD, cassette, digital download and heavyweight black vinyl LP through an exclusive 360-degree partnership with global media and e-commerce platform Everything Now in synergy with the Sony corporation.

Along with the album’s title track, “Creature Comfort” (available in both Official and Official Official versions), and “Signs of Life,” “Electric Blue” can now be streamed, downloaded, and is available with pre-orders of the new album. The video for “Electric Blue,” shot in New Orleans during Mardi Gras season can be seen at http://smarturl.it/ElectricBlueVideo.
