Video: Wavves – “Million Enemies”

posted by Oscar April 11, 2017

The rad dudes of Wavves have released a new music video for their song “Million Enemies.” The visual was directed by Rocco Rivetti, who turns the band into a 70s caliber Glam group living out their Rock & Roll dreams. It’s flashy and cheesy as hell in the best way possible.

“Million Enemies” will appear on Wavves’ forthcoming album You’re Welcome, which is due out May 19 via Ghost Ramp.

Lollapalooza 2016 Schedule

We’re getting closer and closer to summer festival season and today we get another reason to get excited about it… Or even upset.

Lollapalooza have unveiled their 2016 schedule and man oh man are there some hard decisions to make between now and July 28-31. The daily breakdown has ultimately revealed the overlapping time slots for each date and with it comes some notable schedule conflicts. • Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. Disclosure vs. Vic Mensa

  • LCD Soundsystem vs. Die Antwoord vs. Ellie Goulding
  • Haim vs. Flatbush Zombies vs. Flume

Hear Wavves and Cloud Nothings’ ‘No Life For Me’ Outtake, “I Find”

posted by Oscar February 23, 2016

Wavves Cloud Nothings

A little over half a year since the release of No Life For Methe collaborative album from Wavves and Cloud Nothings have shared a song that was recording during that project’s sessions but somehow didn’t make the cut. The track is called “I Find,” and with every time I hit play it’s getting harder and harder how this one was relegated to outtake and not appearing on the record.

The song is the latest rarity to be released as part of Wavves lead singer Nathan Williams’ Ghost Ramp Records monthly subscription series. “I Find” comes packaged with a demo of the project’s title track as the B-side.

Hear “I Find” after the jump. Continue Reading

Dopest Albums of 2015 – By Oscar

posted by Oscar December 31, 2015

Dopest Albums 2015

For our final year-end list we’re doing things just a little bit differently. POD is a team of writers with our own particular set of interests, so instead of doing one list for the blog as a whole, we figured it’d be much better to highlight our own individual tastes by each dropping a list of our own for the Dopest Albums of the year.

My inclinations steer towards Rock and you’ll see my favorites of 2015 fully show that, but you’ll see a couple of other genres deservedly included here. So hit the jump and read MY list of the Dopest Albums of 2015. Continue Reading

Our tickets and press passes pictured above give you a pretty good idea of some of the concerts attended, but we couldn’t possibly fit into this one picture all of the dope sets we experienced all over the country since last year.

Hit the jump and read about which live shows were the dopest of the dope in 2015. Continue Reading

Wavves have delivered their latest music video, and it’s for their very excellent track “My Head Hurts.” The visuals were directed by Jack Wagner, and in this video we see Nathan Williams and the rest of his gang performing some of their super dope shows mixed with some backstage shenanigans. Man, this takes me back!

This is one of my favorite songs of the year and the video sure helps support my feelings. Make sure to catch ’em on their 2016 tour with Best Coast!

posted by Oscar October 4, 2015

Wavves - V

Wavves dropped their second album of the year with V, an album we got to preview throughout the year through songs like “Way Too Much,” “Heavy Metal Detox,” “Flamezesz.” Those songs were more than enough to keep us busy until the full-fledged release, but it was only right that we took in the whole body of work and make an assessment of what are the absolute best V tracks on V (that’s a Roman numerals joke, kids!).

So hit the jump and see which songs stood above the rest. Continue Reading

Recap: Wavves and Twin Peaks Live at The Vic Theatre

posted by Oscar September 26, 2015

Friday night saw Chicago’s historic The Vic Theatre host the most recent stop on Wavves’ headlining tour with Twin Peaks. The Chi-town show was particularly special considering this was a homecoming concert for the Twin Peaks dudes, and for anyone who hasn’t been to one of their hometown gigs, just know that the crowd will definitely knows how to show a special type of love at these.

The moment that Cadien, Jack, Connor, Clay, and JD took the stage at The Vic it was lit, with this crowd as pumped (if not more) as the one we saw at their Lollapalooza show. The set list featured a lot of the songs that we’ve come to love seeing played at live shows, like “Making Breakfast” and “Irene,” but the band did treat the crowd to some new Twin Peaks sounds. Check out one of these songs posted on our IG. These dudes are ferocious, and every time I see them play I can tell that they are only getting better.

Wavves had the hard task of following up TP in front of their hometown crowd, but it was clear that once Nathan Williams and crew started playing the first note of their set, this crowd was going to be at their feet for the rest of the night. The whole show was on a whole other level, with the pit looking like it was absolutely the best spot to experience this concert. From the very first song to the last, the crowd was chanting and hopping along with as much enthusiasm as the band had rocking out. The absolute best part was the fact that crowd surfers were legitimately crowdsurfing from one side of the pit to the next, and not simply being taken to the front so that the security guard at the railing could bring down and send them back out to go on their merry way. Also worth noting was the grand finale, which saw frontman Nate go up into the balcony, from which he jumped off and did a flip into the welcoming crowd. I love me that Rock & Roll.

See more pictures and some footage of the show below. Continue Reading
