Twin Peaks Release Final Two Songs from Sweet ’17 Singles Series, Announce Compilation LP

posted by Oscar December 6, 2017

2017 was an unconventional year in new music for POD favorites Twin Peaks, who slowly but steadily shared an album’s worth of material, two songs at a time starting with “Tossing Tears” back in June. Today the group has shared the final two tracks that will complete their Sweet ’17 Singles series compilation album.

The album brings together 12 songs in total, with the last singles released today being “In The Meadow” and “We Will Not Make It (Not Without You).” While the 7-inches were only available to the 300 people who bought the subscription, all 12 songs will be compiled and released as a limited edition 12″ on February 9th via Grand Jury.

posted by Oscar December 4, 2017
Knox Fortune has shared his new music video for Paradise stand-out track, “No Dancing.” The visual was shot in and around his home in Chicago, where the filmmaker collective WLF stitched together different shots of Knox singing the tune starting back over in a systematic way for each different scene, with the Grammy-winning producer sporting a different ‘fit. Twin Peaks’ Clay Frankel makes a cameo.

Twin Peaks Announce Sweet ’17 Singles Series; Share First A-Side “Tossing Tears”

posted by Oscar June 6, 2017

The Twin Peaks dudes have announced their new subscription series they’re calling the Sweet ’17 Singles series.

Subscribers will receive one 7” single record per month, starting in early July and continuing for the remainder of the year (each limited to 300), as well as a 12″ compiling all 12 songs in December. Fans will be able to hear the tunes via streaming services, subscribing to Sweet ’17 Single’s is the only way to get your hands on the super limited physical copies first.

Twin Peaks’ Cadien Lake James said in the news release:

Sweet ’17 is a singles series we’ll be releasing from next month through the end of the year… Given our demanding touring schedule, we figured a good way to release new music without having to carve out the time to record a full length LP between tours would be to track whenever we could find the time, and release the music in a series of singles. This structure also allowed us the opportunity to experiment without a focus on creating a cohesive body of work. Today we’re excited to share the first single ‘Tossing Tears,’ featuring Ohmme (Macie Stewart and Sima Cunningham) on background vocals, and Macie also tackling the strings. Much more to come.”

Video: Twin Peaks – “Wanted You”

posted by Oscar April 10, 2017

The Twin Peaks dudes have dropped a new music video for their song “Wanted You,” off 2016’s fantastic album, Down In Heaven. The Chicago group got Ezra Ewen to direct the visual, collecting a series of events and bringing them together as one to convey a particular mood that pairs well with the slow groove jam.

Singer and guitarist said about the video in a press release:

“We had a list of a few things when we started; snow, old car, candles, paint, coats, chess, animal masks… Most of it was things we had lying around. We improvised it and then we played with the editing, using reverse footage, to give it a cycle, so it ends where it begins.”

Dopest Albums of 2016, by Oscar

posted by Oscar December 28, 2016

It’s that time of year again during which we summarize the best music we heard over the last 12 months. Because Pursuit of Dopeness is composed of an eclectic mix of individuals, this is just one in a series of posts for 2016’s Dopest, so keep an eye out for the rest of the team’s lists in which they select their own picks for the best of 2016.

Now, onto my list… This time around it was much easier to figure out my picks as all I had to do was think back at the albums that resonated with me the most, and by unintended coincidence, these just so happened to be the limited albums that I actually downloaded to my phone so I can hear them whenever the moment struck me.

So now that you’re familiar with Alex’s 2016 favorites, hit the jump and find out my picks for the dopest sounds that filled my airwaves in 2016! Continue Reading

Video: Twin Peaks – “Holding Roses”

posted by Oscar September 7, 2016

Twin Peaks have unleashed their new visuals for Down In Heaven highlight, “Holding Roses.” The animated video was made with the help of fellow Chicagoan and longtime friend and collaborator, Goons.

The trippy clip follows a sequence of best-of moments that reference real events and moments in the band’s life. Goons speaking on how the video came about said:

“This video features the band in a crazy, crazy world, zooming from place to place always revealing the bigger (or smaller) picture… For source images I drew the band in as I found them online and combined them with my own creations of fans to make a wild butterfly effect of interconnectedness to reflect how fast Twin Peaks’ music travels. In the end, we see that it has all come from one dude’s perspective. Maybe that is the spirit of the band: the older rocker dude looking back and enjoying the crazy ride.”

I sure like to think of myself as the older rocker dude type, and I like to think of this blog as a digital representation of the crazy ride that is my own life. We can only hope that someday Goons would hook us up with his interpretation of the life of POD in a form like this. Check out the sweet music video above.

Twin Peaks also announce their final tour dates of 2016 for November and December! Find more details on that below. Continue Reading
