Coachella Announces 2018 Lineup feat. The Weeknd, Beyoncé, Eminem, SZA, St. Vincent, Migos

posted by Oscar January 2, 2018

It’s still early enough in 2018 where you can see someone and wish them a “Happy New Year” without sounding like a weirdo, and Coachella has already delivered the FULL lineup for their 2018 festival.

The headliners for both weekends are The Weeknd, Eminem, and Beyoncé, the latter making up for cancelling her appearance last year due to being hella pregnant with twins.

The rest of the lineup is good enough to draw plenty of attention of their own with artists like SZA, St. Vincent, Migos, Tyler the Creator, Miguel, Cardi B, War on Drugs, Chic with Nile Rodgers, Vince Staples, A Perfect Circle, Kamasi Washington, French Montana, 6LACK, Angel Olsen, Jamiroquai, Daniel Cesar, Kali Uchis, Bleachers, Post Malone, BROCKHAMPTON, Aminé, and Highly Suspect… Yeah, we like this lineup.

Shout out to Chicago’s own Knox Fortune and Noname.

Coachella 2018 will take place the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. for two weekends this Spring (April 13-15 and April 20-22). Peep the lineup in full on the poster above.

POD Photos: The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy: Legend of The Fall World Tour’ in Chicago

posted by Oscar November 6, 2017

The Starboy: Legend of The Fall World Tour finished off its American dates in our hometown of Chicago and we were part of the lucky few to be in attendance that Thursday night at the United Center. The Weeknd’s ascension was put on full display that night as the Starboy himself was received by an incredible reception from a fervent crowd that sang along to his every word from the second he hit the stage. He may have achieved Pop success, but this is still the Abel Tesfaye that came up with mixtapes filled with sex, drugs, and dark themes, and this crowd very much looked like they’ve been along for the entire ride that has been his career so far.

A simple catwalk running down the arena floor allowed The Weeknd to stroll and dance amongst his fans, as a sort of spaceship hung above him and beamed lights and lasers to illuminate his performances of songs like “Starboy,” “Often,” “Crew Love,” “Angel,” and “I Can’t Feel My Face.” Popping up from underneath the stage for “The Hills” as the encore was especially dope considering Chicago’s own Mano is the producer of the heavy track.

S/o to Gucci Mane, Nav, and lil PANDA too for hyping the crowd as they helped open the night’s show.

Video: Lana Del Rey feat. The Weeknd – “Lust For Life”

posted by Oscar May 22, 2017

Lana Del Rey has released her new music video for “Lust For Life,” her collaboration with The Weeknd. At the first, the focus is completely on Del Rey, who’s shown performing the track in a set that’s fit for a local TV station program. That leads to the pair climbing up the “H” on the Hollywood sign, dancing together and embracing each other lovingly until Lana slides off the last letter and they both wind up in a field.

The release date for new album Lust For Life is still TBA.

The Weeknd has released his new video for “I Feel It Coming,” his collaboration with Daft Punk. The visuals directed by Warren Fu follow the Canadian star in a deserted landscape as he encounters a medusa-like figure that converts into an alluring woman that ultimately consumes him. It’s only at the end where you find the robots make an appearance.

Behind the Beat: Best R&B Samples of 2016

posted by Luis Hernandez December 28, 2016

Last week, I put out a list for my favorite hip-hop samples of the year. This week, I wanted to give R&B its shine, as this genre has had a solid 2016 overall. The best part of the genre now is that a lot of R&B songs are now incorporating old hits into current songs to rejuvenate the genre even further. Here are my top samples of R&B in 2016:
