posted by Oscar August 4, 2017

The War On Drugs are set to release their fourth album, A Deeper Understanding, three weeks from today and to help preview it they have shared the second official single, “Pain.” It’s in this song that we hear the album’s title in its lyrics, and, as a press release notes, is one of two songs Adam Granduciel cut, nearly-live, on his first night working with engineer Shawn Everett and the band — bassist Dave Hartley, keyboardist Robbie Bennett, drummer Charlie Hall and multi-instrumentalists Anthony LaMarca and Jon Natchez– at Sonora Recorders in Los Angeles.

The War On Drugs’ A Deeper Understanding is out August 25th via Atlantic Records. The band will be touring for two-plus months beginning mid-September. Tickets are available for purchase at www.thewarondrugs.net. Catch them play their second late night appearance in support of A Deeper Understanding next Wednesday, August 9th on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

It must be said that two of the biggest acts, Drake and AC/DC (and for us Vic Mensa), are notably off this list but I guess it just makes it that much more vital and cooler for the people who actually get to see those performances. However, there are some cool sets available for streaming including the likes of Jack White, Florence and the Machine, Tame Impala, Ryan Adams, St. Vincent, Lykke Li, and Run the Jewels.

Other acts that you can check on the webcast are Belle and Sebastian, Ride, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Alt-J, Alabama Shakes, Father John Misty, Interpol, The War on Drugs, Panda Bear, Tyler the Creator, Jenny Lewis, Cloud Nothings, The Weeknd, FKA twigs, Ratatat, Mac DeMarco, Jamie xx, Perfume Genius, Benjamin Booker, Royal Blood, The Orwells, and more.
