Moon Duo Announces Alan Vega (of Suicide) and The Stooges Covers 12″ + UK/EU Tour

posted by Oscar January 5, 2018

Portland’s Moon Duo have returned by way of a new limited edition 12″ that will feature covers of some classics by Alan Vega of Suicide and The Stooges.

Today, Psych group has delivered its rendition of Vega’s “Jukebox Babe,” stripping it of its 50s Rock & Roll sensibilities and turning it into a driving Disco-fied jam that boasts a delectably dirty guitar outtro. It low-key slaps.

The 12″, which also features The Stooges’ “No Fun,” is due for release on January 19. Hear “Jukebox Babe” below. Continue Reading

James Williamson - Relicked

The Stooges have long been staples in the Punk game as pioneers of the genre and their legacy is all but forgotten. The band’s guitarist, James Williamson is releasing a solo album titled Re-Licked which revisits some of the more obscure Stooges tracks and re-mixes and re-records them with special guest vocals from the likes of Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Alison Mosshart (The Kills) and Ariel Pink.

Our first look at this album features our guy, Mario Cuomo of The Orwells who’s providing vocals on “I’m Sick Of You.” Hear it below and see the track list below. Continue Reading

The Orwells Live at Lollapalooza

posted by Oscar August 5, 2013

The young, Chicago suburbs band played an awesome, thunderous set at Lollapalooza 2013. Seeing them for the first time, I felt like these guys really lived up to expectations and the crowd that filled The Grove stage early Sunday afternoon fed off that energy to a high degree. The Orwells played songs like new single “Who Needs You” (shown above), “Blood Bubbles,” “In My Bed,” with a cover of The Stooges’ “Now I Wanna Be Your Dog” serving as a perfect set closer/encore.

See more footage below. Continue Reading
