Video: Watch Previously Unseen Footage of The Clash’s 1977 New Year’s Concert

posted by Oscar January 4, 2015

You can finally see the unearthed footage of the famous New Year’s concert the Clash performed back in 1977. The show would be at the Roxy, which was itself just starting to leave it’s “cheesy gay club” ways behind to spearhead the oncoming Punk movement.

Filmmaker Julien Temple had attended the show and captured the big event that is now surfacing for the first time in a new BBC documentary. Along with the concert material we get to see behind-the-scenes shots and found footage of media broadcasts, riots, reggae, and more.

Watch the hour-fifteen film above.
