Black Lips - Underneath The Rainbow

Here’s the latest video by The Black Lips for their track, “Funny.” The track, from their latest album, is a good rocker and it works perfectly with all of the marionettes that are dancing around to the music.

It really does look like a fun video; see it by clicking on the Underneath The Rainbow cover art above.

Video: The Black Lips X Boy George – “Bang A Gong (Get It On)” (T. Rex Cover)

posted by Oscar April 19, 2014

In what seems to be one of the most unlikely collaborations in recent memory, The Black Lips covered the Rock classic, “Bang A Gong (Get It On)” with none other than 80’s Pop sensation, Boy George. The T. Rex track seemed a perfect fit for the southern band and Boy George behind the mic did a pretty damn good job himself.

See that cover, for WXPN’s Free At Noon concert series, above.

Video: Black Lips – “Nightmare Field”

Here’s the latest video from the Black Lips for their Underneath The Rainbow bonus song, “Nightmare Field.” The ATL rockers star in the video as greasers named “The Pink Angels” in what comes out to being a cool, Bryan Bankovitch-directed mesh of “Grease Lightning” in Grease and Kanye’s video for “Bound 2.” Awkward dance choreography, knife fights, and motorcycle “ride” finale with a shitty Eiffel Tower backdrop makes for an awesome video.

The Black Lips released their latest album Underneath The Rainbow (which features work from The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney) this week and to keep the momentum going the Atlanta band have also released a video for their track, “Justice After All.” The visuals, directed and produced by Andy Capper and Danilo Parra, show the band walking the streets of ATL while singing to the camera along with clips from classic movies taking over the shot.

Black Lips
Atlanta Punks, the Black Lips have revealed their follow-up single to “Boys In The Wood,” a Southern rocker titled “Justice For All.” This look at their upcoming seventh studio album, Underneath the Rainbow, packs in quite the punch in lees than 3 minutes and most importantly features that classic foot-stomping quality that quickly draws you in. The distorted fuzz thrown in here and there is a great detail as well.

Hear it over at NME.

Black Lips – “Boys In The Wood”

Black Lips

Earlier in the week, southern Punk Rockers The Black Lips announced their return with an album titled Underneath the Rainbow. Our first look at their new work is the song “Boys In The Wood,” which deviates from the Punk-ier sound we’re used to hearing from them and instead goes for a more Blues-y sound. I must say, it works excellently.
