Coachella Announces 2018 Lineup feat. The Weeknd, Beyoncé, Eminem, SZA, St. Vincent, Migos

posted by Oscar January 2, 2018

It’s still early enough in 2018 where you can see someone and wish them a “Happy New Year” without sounding like a weirdo, and Coachella has already delivered the FULL lineup for their 2018 festival.

The headliners for both weekends are The Weeknd, Eminem, and Beyoncé, the latter making up for cancelling her appearance last year due to being hella pregnant with twins.

The rest of the lineup is good enough to draw plenty of attention of their own with artists like SZA, St. Vincent, Migos, Tyler the Creator, Miguel, Cardi B, War on Drugs, Chic with Nile Rodgers, Vince Staples, A Perfect Circle, Kamasi Washington, French Montana, 6LACK, Angel Olsen, Jamiroquai, Daniel Cesar, Kali Uchis, Bleachers, Post Malone, BROCKHAMPTON, Aminé, and Highly Suspect… Yeah, we like this lineup.

Shout out to Chicago’s own Knox Fortune and Noname.

Coachella 2018 will take place the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. for two weekends this Spring (April 13-15 and April 20-22). Peep the lineup in full on the poster above.

St. Vincent Releases New Song “Pills” + Announces 2018 Tour

posted by Oscar October 10, 2017

Today we have received another offering from St. Vincent’s forthcoming album, Masseduction. The new song is entitled “Pills” and it premiered as the World Record on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show.

Annie Clark spoke to Lowe about the conception of track, and how she worked on it with Jack Antonoff (Bleachers; Fun.) while also recruiting Cara Delevingne and Jenny Lewis to offer some vocal parts and Kamasi Washington plays sax. The song has this sort of demented, upbeat vibe that rides along for the majority of its run, until just before the 3-minute mark where the desired effect of those pills some to kick in to close off the performance with a more serene feel.

Masseduction will be released on October 14 via Loma Vista Recordings. Hear “Pills” and find her newly-announced 2018 tour dates (with pre-sale info) below. Continue Reading

Video: St. Vincent – “Los Angeless”

posted by Oscar October 3, 2017

St. Vincent has shared her music video for “Los Angeless.” The visual, a partnership with Red Bull Music and directed by Willo Perron, has striking monochromatic sets with often bizarre portrayals of stereotypical LA themes including plastic surgery, hip fine dining, and yoga.

The song’s badass instrumentation and haunting chorus gets a music video worthy of its sonic counterpart.

St. Vincent – “Emotional Rescue” (The Rolling Stones Cover)

posted by Oscar February 12, 2016

St. Vincent has shared her cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Emotional Rescue,” which she recorded for the A Bigger Splash soundtrack. Made with Sounwave and Terrace Martin, the track definitely sounds like an Annie Clark joint after they gave it this makeover, and it answers the question of what Dance music would sound like if it were made in outer space. I mean, just in case you were wondering.

Hear the cover below. Continue Reading

Video: Taylor Swift Brings Out Beck and St. Vincent in L.A.

posted by Oscar August 26, 2015

Not exactly something you’d think would happen huh? Taylor Swift’s current tour has been plagued with surprise appearances of all sorts of artists that may not exactly always be on her fan’s radar, but that a T.Swift stamp of approval could surely generate some sort of interest from there on out. The latest to make an appearance with Pop’s biggest star were none other than Beck and St. Vincent, and the unlikely pair (considering this revolving around a Swift concert) hit the stage to perform the former’s awesome hit “Dreams.”

Check out a clip of how things went down at that L.A. show above and a bit of the St. Vincent guitar solo below. Continue Reading

St. Vincent’s First Beats 1 Show Featured A Mixtape For An 11-Year-Old Fan

posted by Oscar July 1, 2015

Beats 1‘s St. Vincent’s Mixtape Delivery Service first aired last night, a show during which Annie Clark will be picking a lucky individual to get a personally curated mixtape “to serve as a soundtrack for whatever is going on in their lives.”

For the premiere “delivery service,” St. Vincent chose 11-year-old girl Piper to be the first person to receive one of her mixtapes. Piper is a fan likes dancing to tunes by Purity Ring and Chvrches so Clark’s mix is a collection of tracks she thinks “(Piper will) love, but probably has missed because she’s 11.” Among the selections include songs by the Knife, David Bowie, and Bjork.

The show only gets deeper and cooler with the fan and artist having a chat. Stream the mixtape and the show’s premiere below. Continue Reading

posted by Oscar April 10, 2015

Coachella 2015 kicks off today in Indio, California with weekend one taking place. The iconic fest will be webcasting a number of sets live on YouTube.

It must be said that two of the biggest acts, Drake and AC/DC (and for us Vic Mensa), are notably off this list but I guess it just makes it that much more vital and cooler for the people who actually get to see those performances. However, there are some cool sets available for streaming including the likes of Jack White, Florence and the Machine, Tame Impala, Ryan Adams, St. Vincent, Lykke Li, and Run the Jewels.

Other acts that you can check on the webcast are Belle and Sebastian, Ride, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Alt-J, Alabama Shakes, Father John Misty, Interpol, The War on Drugs, Panda Bear, Tyler the Creator, Jenny Lewis, Cloud Nothings, The Weeknd, FKA twigs, Ratatat, Mac DeMarco, Jamie xx, Perfume Genius, Benjamin Booker, Royal Blood, The Orwells, and more.
