posted by Oscar September 25, 2017

Yooooo, shout outs to 101WKQX! Summer festival season may be over, but thanks to Chicago’s dope Alternative station, we have some great shows to look forward to at the end of the year!

101WKQX have announced the lineup for their annual concert series, The Nights We Stole Christmas and it has Chicago’s own Rise Against plus Foster the People and Queens Of The Stone Age all headlining!

Taking place at the Aragon Ballroom the weekend of November 30th, night 1 will see Rise Against with Papa Roach and Night Riots closing things off; night 2 has Sir Sly and Cold War Kids opening for Foster The People; and finally on night 3 (my personal favorite lineup) will have Biffy Clyro + Run The Jewels + Queens Of The Stone Age. I want to go to there…

Sir Sly - Afterlife (Arcade Fire Cover)

Buried in our emails, we kind of missed the train on being one of the first to post this but it’s getting on here anyways. Sir Sly is set to drop their debut album next week and as they geared up for its release they shared with their fans something another band created that they liked. The LA-based group did their rendition of “Afterlife,” one of the best tracks from Arcade Fire’s latest.

Talking about why they covered “Afterlife,” lead vocalist and songwriter Landon Jacobs said:

“‘Afterlife’ is one of my favorite songs. The original song is so upbeat, but the lyrics are very morose, so I always wanted to hear what it would be like to slow the song down a bit and really dive into the darkness at the center. The song came together really quickly once Hayden had the idea to use the triplet beat in the chorus and Jason played that arpeggiating synth at the end.

feat. Vic Mensa & Kami De Chukwu

Peter CottonTale had been posting on his Twitter that new music was on its way and today we get his remix of Sir Sly’s “Gold” with guest verses from SaveMoney men Vic Mensa and Kami De Chukwu. Kami’s slower tempo buildup contribution gives another energy that works as an excellent contrast to Vic’s dope vocal assault on the mic.
