Sunday kicked off with beautiful weather and excellent performances from Billy Talent, Juliette and the Licks, Thursday, Andrew W.K, and The Wonder Years.

Unfortunately the Joey Badass performance was marred by audio difficulties, but Joey still soldiered through to perform “Christ Conscious” and some new bangers.

The Deftones brought their own unique atmosphere to the show.

The evening was filled with epic performances, including Sleater Kinney. With a dazzling light show, and stage prescence like no other, the all female band proved why they’ve been called one of the best rock bands of the last two decades. After their long hiatus it was a treat to see them performing with such energy, and enthusiasm. Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker, and Janet Wise absolutely killed it. Continue Reading

posted by Oscar September 11, 2013

Riot Fest

If you ever paid attention to the name of the authors on P.O.D. you may have noticed by now that I’m “the Rock guy” around here and that should have made you expect me to write up a list of the top 10 acts you just can’t miss at Riot Fest (Chicago) ’13.  This is my third Riot Fest in a row, my first covered on this site (in our traditional fan-view way, of course), and I’m already planning for this to be another tradition of mine. We’re just days away from rocking Humboldt Park and without a single note yet to be played, the music festival and carnival is already looking like it may be one of the best they’ve ever organized.

Events: Riot Fest 2013 Lineup [Update]

posted by Oscar May 15, 2013

Festival lineup announcements are being made seemingly every other week, and now it’s Riot Fest’s turn. The formal announcement will be made later tonight at 10PM CT, so stay tuned for that later. and highlights include Fall Out Boy and Blink 182.

I attended Riot Fest last year when the lineup included Rise Against, Coheed & Cambria, Gogol Bordello, the Offspring and Iggy & the Stooges plus others. If this year’s fest boasts a lineup that can compare to the last one, Riot Fest 2013 will surely be another great Chicago music festival.

The Festival running from September 13-15 in Chicago’s Humboldt Park will also have Motörhead, Rancid, AFI, Blondie, Public Enemy and Violent Femmes.

See the lineup below. Continue Reading
