Video: Arcade Fire Perform on France’s ‘Le Grand Journal’

posted by Oscar November 22, 2013

Arcade Fire are making the rounds nowadays helping promote their latest album, Reflektor, and yesterday the Canadian band took over France’s Le Grand Journal to play an awesome 3-song set. The songs were “Joan Of Arc” (shown above), “Afterlife” and the album’s title track.

The band rocked some awesome masks and sounded sharp and ready for their upcoming tour of N.A. I’ve got my ticket and after seeing these performances, I can’t help get pumped for their Chicago concert. See the other clips below. Continue Reading

Arcade Fire (The Reflektors?) have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts. The indie giants’ Reflektor debuted at the top of the charts by selling 140,000 copies during its first week on sale. This was the first album for AF (previously only through Merge Records) that held major distribution through  Universal and Capitol Records handling radio promotion.

Their last album, The Suburbs, also debuted at No. 1 after selling 156K copies in its first week on sale.

In other chart news, Eminem’s “The Monster” (feat. Rihanna) scored 373K downloads, beating Miley Cyrus’ title for ’13 singles.

All in all, it’s been a good week for POD favorites.

Album Review: Arcade Fire – ‘Reflektor’

Arcade Fire- Reflektor-album-art

Let me start out by saying that this is one of the best albums of the year. Simple as that.

All the hype surrounding Reflektor prior to its release focused on it being an album chock-full of “danceable” tracks that would make Arcade Fire better suited for a club filled with disco balls and mini skirts rather than denim-clad, band T-shirt-wearing fans. It’s not. Instead, it’s a collection of artful tracks that take elements from genres like Disco, Caribbean music and even Hip Hop to help make the double LP a new “classic.” Continue Reading

Video: Arcade Fire – “Reflektor”

posted by Oscar September 9, 2013

Some new Arcade Fire is here! The Canadian band sounds a tad bit more danceable than we’re used to but their video is filled with the sort of weird, eye-catching imagery that we expect and love from them. Shot in black and white, the band is shown sporting those face helmet “things” we typically spot in pics/videos of carnivale in Rio, plus a disco ball and a dude rocking the mirror pieces on his entire body all convening to form a huge reflector. Dancing (in those helmets), shots of Win Butler driving as the band plays in the back makes for some cool visuals.

Needless to say, it looks weird, but I dig it. Check out their bizarre video for “Reflektor” above.
