56th Annual Grammy Award Winners

The 56th annual Grammy Awards were held tonight, January 26 and here are the winners. Broadcast on CBS, the live show featured performances by Beyoncé feat. Jay Z, Daft Punk feat. Pharrell, Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers, Metallica feat. Lang Lang, Imagine Dragons X Kendrick Lamar plus more.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won all the Rap category awards and Best New Artist while Lorde won Song Of The Year for “Royals” and Daft Punk won the biggest prizes of the night by winning Record Of The Year (“Get Lucky”) and Album Of The Year for Random Access Memories.

Video: Daft Punk ‘Random Access Memories’ Vinyl Packaging Preview

The robots, better known as Daft Punk, have released another teaser for their new album Random Access Memories. This time, however, we’re getting a 2-for-1 deal…

The french duo posted a video on Vevo in which they’re in some 80’s-styled control room (with the exact “boop-beep” sounds you’d expect to hear in one of those) and along with showing some of the vinyl packaging, they play a snippet of the opening track, “Give Life Back to Music.” The album is set for a May 21st release and will feature The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, Paul Williams, and Pharrell, among others.

In the latest installment of Daft Punk’s The Collaborators series we see Paul Williams, the man famously (/awesomely) behind Jim Henson’s classic Muppets hits like “Rainbow Connection.” In this interview Williams opens up about how the approaching for writing for this album is doing so as an unidentified first person who’s experiencing the world for the first time through, sounding his “prettiest” on R.A.M., and his sheer joy for working with the “robots.”

In the latest episode of Daft Punk’s “The Collaborators” series, we see Panda Bear (of Animal Collective) open up about how he first got into Daft Punk, how “the robots” denied remixing any of his work despite his requests though that would lead to their collaborating on this new album, and the honor of being a featured artist on Random Access Memories.

The most hyped-up album of this year is, without a doubt, Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories. Now, THE power duo of Electronic music has shared the first in a series of interviews called The Collaborators. The video series will give us a look at the artists that helped Daft Punk create the new album.

The video above shows the first guest, Giorgio Moroder, the man behind many of Donna Summer’s biggest hits back in Disco’s heyday. Moroder goes into his career’s history and the birth of “Electronic Dance Music.”
