See Queens Of The Stone Age Play “The Way You Used To Do” and Cover Marty Wilde’s “Bad Boy” on Piano

posted by Oscar October 24, 2017

Queens Of The Stone Age is the latest act to hit BBC Radio 1’s Piano Sessions series to play a couple of tunes. QOTSA performed a stripped-down, swinging rendition of their Villains lead single “The Way You Used To Do,” along with a cover of a Marty Wilde track.

The performance of their own track shines a completely different light, with the piano changing pretty much everything except the vocals. Josh Homme and crew played it with more of a sinister appeal and it sounds so damn smooth and cool; if they’d ever want to play local Jazz clubs, they’d kill it with this version of “The Way You Used To Do.”

12 Artists to See at Riot Fest 2017

posted by Oscar September 12, 2017

It’s Riot Fest week!! The Chicago festival is best known for putting together some of the nation’s best lineups year after year, bringing back iconic bands for special reunions along the way, and the 2017 edition is right up there among their best ever.

We’ve been attending the Punk-rooted festival since 2011 and this year’s going to be a bit different for us, as it marks the first time we’re attending as part of the press. So instead of sneaking our way to the front rails to see the action up-front or hopping from mosh pit to mosh pit, we’ll be bouncing around all of Douglas Park this weekend to take in all it’s got to offer and taking photography of the artists we are most eager to see from this lineup.

We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite artists on the lineup that we are looking forward to seeing perform live at Riot Fest 2017. Check out the can’t-miss acts below.

Album Review: Our Top 5 Songs on ‘Villains’ by Queens Of The Stone Age

posted by Oscar September 1, 2017

Queens Of The Stone Age have released their latest album, Villains, and once again they’ve proven they’re a force to be reckoned with. The 9 tracks on the band’s seventh studio release are all the proof you need that Rocky & Roll is alive and well, with leader Josh Homme and crew on the front lines making sure to keep it that way.

One of the most anticipated albums of the year for me, the record itself definitely doesn’t disappoint. Villains packs a lot of punch with brilliant guitar work and dark lyrical and production themes throughout. Working with Mark Ronson, one of the biggest producers of his generation, led to a collection of tracks that are all so damn kickass and flow seamlessly from one to the next, that if the band decided to use their upcoming headlining appearance at Riot Fest to play Villains all the way through, those of us in attendance would not see a problem with it.

Check out our Top 5 tracks from this album below. Continue Reading

Queens Of The Stone Age Share Video for “The Way You Used To Do”

posted by Oscar August 16, 2017

Queens Of The Stone Age have released their new music video for their sexy, danceable lead track “The Way You Used To Do.” The visual was conceived by QOTSA leader Joshua Homme and it was directed by Jonas Akerlund and produced by Serial Pictures. The video starts off in black and white as the band is jamming together in a small room, until Homme bursts through to another side where things come into color, wardrobe changes liven things up, and the frontman even delivers a stupendous dancing performance.

QOTSA’s seventh album, Villains, arrives August 25th on Matador Records. The album is available now for pre-order at http://smarturl.it/Villains.

Queens Of The Stone Age Unleash New Single “The Evil Has Landed”

posted by Oscar August 10, 2017

Queens Of The Stone Age have shared their newest single, “The Evil Has Landed.” The track is the latest cut from forthcoming album Villains, which was produced by Mark Ronson and co-produced by Mark Rankin and mixed by Alan Moulder.

“The Evil Has Landed” is a builder, starting off with this fantastically-distorted riff that brings to mind that “good ol’, American Rock & Roll” kind of swagger, which finally gives way to this killer, pacey finale that packs a Punk-tinged punch. This seriously kicks so much ass!

The song was unleashed with a premiere this morning as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Lowe’s Beats 1 show. Hear “The Evil Has Landed” below. Continue Reading
