GQ’s new December Men of the Year issue has already honored men like Will Ferrell (“Funnyman of the Year”) and Kendrick Lamar (“Rapper of the Year”), but it also has named Pharrell Williams “Hitmaker of the Year” for 2013.
With two of the biggest hits of the year in “Blurred Lines” and “Get Lucky,” opened up to GQ why he thinks the two songs were so well-received this year. “Both songs are for people who need a break,” he explains. “There’s a lot of f*cked-up travesty in the world. Sometimes you just need a Hallmark card. Sometimes you just need to shake your ass.” Needless to say, that idea resonated with more than enough people this year.
