Eddie Vedder – “Imagine” Live in Portugal (John Lennon Cover)

posted by Oscar July 20, 2014

The conflict between Israel and Gaza has taken its toll in the Middle East with much of the world voicing their beliefs about it these last few days and one of the music world’s most active figures speaking out about it recently has been Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. While on tour in Europe, Vedder has gone on a number of anti-war rants that some had interpreted as anti-Israel but he later went on to elaborate (on the band’s website) that his sentiments are against war itself.

During a stop in Portugal, Vedder covered John Lennon’s iconic peace anthem, “Imagine,” which he had also taken lines from within that message on the website. The powerful song worked perfectly to further voice those opinions of wanting to bring peace to the region, and musically it’s also a gem given Vedder’s particular voice.

Video: Pearl Jam ft. Win Butler [Arcade Fire] – “Rockin’ In The Free World” (Live at Perth’s Big Day Out)

posted by Oscar February 4, 2014

Veteran rockers, Pearl Jam were performing “down under” at Perth’s Big Day Out festival and during their live rendition of Neil Young’s classic “Rockin’ In The Free World,” Arcade Fire lead singer Win Butler joined them onstage. Two of my favorite artists for sure, but definitely an unlikely pairing that I would have never figured would be possible. At least it all came out looking and sounding as cool as you can imagine.
