Event: Silent Party Music To Play First Headline Show on August 3

posted by Oscar July 24, 2017

We’re very happy to share the news with y’all that our good friends of Silent Party Music, Chicago’s crew of live musicians that play for some (a lot, actually) of your favorite artists, will be putting on their own showcase next month, and it will be one you won’t want to miss. If you’re a fan of Jamila Woods, Noname, Smino, LEGIT, Saba, Omen, Alex Wiley, and Eryn Allen Kane, and you’ve seen them live in the last couple years, then you’ve seen and enjoyed the band that is Silent Party Music.

The showcase is a bit secretive right now as the band doesn’t want to ruin the dope things they’ve got cooking up for this, but I can assure you that when they say “very special guests” that they seriously mean it. What we can confirm is that Elton Aura, Luke Titus, and Isaiah G will help open up the show, while DJ Dam Dam and DJ MightDoSumn will be providing the vibes.

It all kicks off at 8pm on August 3 at Emporium in Wicker Park…. Oh yeah, and it’s FREE!

Seriously, this is going to be beyond dope. Be there.

Rae Sremmurd 10

This time last week we were partying it up at showcases that featured a mix of the best veteran stars and some of the most exciting up-and-coming acts on the planet, brought together to play at the iconic annual festival, SXSW.

Much like in previous years, we spread the team out to experience shows from artists of all sorts of genres and we wound up with a healthy mix of acts that we’ve seen perform before, and musicians that we were finally going to see in a live setting. The collection of artists that we saw at SXSW included the likes of John Legend, Rae Sremmurd, Bas, Towkio, The Kills, Vince Staples, Deftones, CHVRCHES, Cozz, Mike Golden, and Mick Jenkins, just to name a few.

After going through literally hundreds of pics, we put together this compilation for ya to peep. Look below to check out our gallery of the Dopest Sights of SXSW 2016. Continue Reading

Omen Announces Release Date For Debut Album ‘Elephant Eyes’

posted by Oscar July 14, 2015

It’s been a long time coming but today we finally have important details on Elephant Eyes, Omen’s debut album. Three years after first announcing the project, the Chicago MC has officially announced the album to be released July 21st via J. Cole’s Dreamville label.

This Love & Hip Hop (Dreamville edition) parody trailer for Elephant Eyes that has the whole Dreamville team going against one another in a battle for LP’s release date excellently captures the sense of frustration that surrounded the making of this album. In the video, Omen feels slept on by the label leaving label executive Ibrahim Hamad stating “I’m just going to drop it and take all the credit. I’m going to just say it was a Dreamville thing.”

Check the clip above and keep your eyes peeled for Omen‘s Dreamville debut coming next Monday July 21st.

Made In America 2015

The Jay Z-curated festival has announced its 2015 lineup and yet again, it looks like Made In America is set to be one of the best musical experiences of the year. This year’s lineup will see headliners Beyoncé and The Weeknd head to Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway on September 5th and 6th.

The rest of the roster is just as stacked with some of the immediate standouts being J. Cole, Modest Mouse, Big Sean, A-Trak, De La Soul, Banks, Vic Mensa, and Action Bronson. Some of the other dope artists we dig on this bill include Earl Sweatshirt, Metric, Flatbush Zombies, Lola Wolf, Mick Jenkins, and Omen.

American Express Card Members can get pre-sale tickets starting tomorrow at 10am ET. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, June 29th at noon ET.http://smarturl.it/MIAFestival?IQid=fb
