12 Artists to See at Riot Fest 2017

posted by Oscar September 12, 2017

It’s Riot Fest week!! The Chicago festival is best known for putting together some of the nation’s best lineups year after year, bringing back iconic bands for special reunions along the way, and the 2017 edition is right up there among their best ever.

We’ve been attending the Punk-rooted festival since 2011 and this year’s going to be a bit different for us, as it marks the first time we’re attending as part of the press. So instead of sneaking our way to the front rails to see the action up-front or hopping from mosh pit to mosh pit, we’ll be bouncing around all of Douglas Park this weekend to take in all it’s got to offer and taking photography of the artists we are most eager to see from this lineup.

We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite artists on the lineup that we are looking forward to seeing perform live at Riot Fest 2017. Check out the can’t-miss acts below.

Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Smiths Nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2015; Vote!

posted by Oscar October 9, 2014

Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame

Here are the latest nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015: Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A, the Smiths, Lou Reed and Sting. The acts with the most votes will be announced toward the end of the year and will be inducted on April 18th, 2015 at a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.

For a third consecutive year, voting is open to the public which will be counted alongside that of the artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. From now until December 9th, fans can vote on RollingStone.com for the nominees they’d like to see inducted. The top five acts will comprise a “fan’s ballot” that will count as one of the ballots that determine the Class of 2015.

The “class of 2014” was legendary as it saw Nirvana inducted in their first year of eligibility and KISS finally making the cut (after 15 years of being eligible) thanks to an overwhelming support from its fans (myself included) via the public vote option.

Well now, get to voting!

The 56th edition of the Grammy Awards will not only have Queens Of The Stone Age as nominees for awards like Best Rock Album & Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for …Like Clockwork and “My God Is The Sun” Nominated For Best Rock Performance, but the desert Rockers will also hold the duty to close out the televised event. The awards show will be broadcasted Janurary 26th, where the band will be joined by Nine Inch Nails, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and special guest, Lindsery Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac). This ensemble already looks too good on paper, so expecting them to “deliver” is more than reasonable.
