Nike Soccer Unveils 2017/18 Third Kits for FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, AS Roma, Chelsea, Tottenham

posted by Oscar September 12, 2017

The UEFA Champions League is back!! While a lot of us may take advantage of these dates to start queuing up the iconic theme song (UPDATE), Nike instead has opted for unleashing some new kits for some of the teams in the competition they suit up.

Spain’s FC Barcelona, Italy’s Inter Milan and AS Roma, and Chelsea and Tottenham from the UK, all have new kits announced this week. All the teams listed will be sporting camo designs on their latest jerseys.

Some of the colors have some interesting names and titles. Chelsea’s dark grey shirt has “modern electric blue” features and Spurs will be wearing a dark purple kit “rich yellow” highlights. The cool names for the new colors go to Italian squads, with Inter rocking a thunder blue third kit and AS Roma’s new jersey will be turning heads thanks to their dark velvet brown tone. The big stand-out? That goes to Barça, which is biting Roma’s signature maroon & orange colors for some odd and inexplicable reason… I mean, it looks cool, but still.

Nike Celebrates Wayne Rooney’s Club Goals Record with Hypervenom WR250

posted by Oscar January 22, 2017

This weekend was a historic one for Wayne Rooney, who scored his 250th goal for Manchester United. The goal scored in a 1-1 draw against Stoke City made Rooney the all-time leading goalscorer for United, reaching the feat in 12 years with the club, 5 years faster than the previous record holder, Sir Bobby Charlton.

Last fall Rooney broke another record when he became England’s all-time leading scorer with 50 goals.

To celebrate the historic achievement Nike has announced the special edition Hypervenom WR250. The new kicks come in red and white, the colors he sports for both club and country, with a special logo created featuring a crown and his record breaking number on the tongue of the boot. According to Nike, when placed side-by-side, the pair forms the St George’s Cross across the uppers, connecting to England once more.

Club América 2015-16 Home & Away Kits, by Nike

posted by Oscar July 24, 2015

Club_America_home_jersey_3_43417

For the 2015-16 season Mexico giants Club América will be wearing a Home kit in pale yellow once again and this time it’s designed paying homage to the 50th anniversary of its 1965-66 league championship, referencing the uniform worn during the historic victory. Last season’s collar is substituted for a modern V-neck collar trimmed at the back with a red and navy blue band.

The away shirt is light blue at the top and transitions to a darker shade toward the hem. This design was included as a reference  to the club’s reputation for nurturing young talent at its academy named El Nido (the Nest) via a feather graphic that recalls the club’s mascot, an eagle.

The Mexico City club unveiled the new uniforms this week with a little help from former SI Swimsuit Issue model Ana Beatriz Barros. Not a bad pull…

The new kits are available July 22 on the Nike Football App and July 23 at select Nike retailers. See more pictures of the new kits below. Continue Reading

Inter Milan 2015-16 Away Kit

For the forthcoming season Inter Milan will play in a unique away kit that evokes the club’s past triumphs and its close historical bond with the city of Milan. The 2015-16 away kit is in clean, classic white and sports a modern update on the traditional black and blue horizontal chest band, a recurring feature of Inter Milan away shirts since the Sixties, and notably in 1990-91.

The shirt’s chest band appears to follow Inter Milan tradition, but on close inspection reveals a subtle black and blue tonal print depicting the scales of Il Biscione. Synonymous with Milan since the 13th century, the snake features on the emblems of two of Milan’s ruling families. The icon also appeared on Inter Milan’s 2010/11 away kits.

FC Barcelona 2015-16

FC Barcelona’s 2015-16 Home and Away kits have been unveiled and they both feature bold redesigns by Nike. The new La Liga champions will be defending their league title with their traditional Blaugrana home kits now sporting those colors in horizontal stripes and it features the Senyera flag is embedded into the collar in a golden yellow trim with four thin red stripes around the outside of the shirt’s streamlined and modern V-neck. Horizontal stripes have previously been worn by FCB basketball, rugby and athletics teams, but this is the first time in the club’s long and rich history that the football team will don horizontal stripes.

The Away kits are inspired by the iconic Senyera flag, which itself is so central to the culture of the city and the club. The new Away shirt is predominately golden yellow, a hue long associated with Catalan unity. On the back, four vertical red stripes on a golden yellow background run from the shoulders to the hem.
