Club America Clausura 2015 Third Kit

Club America Clausura 2015

Liga MX’s current Apertura 2014 season will just begin its play-offs stage but that hasn’t prevented league-leaders Club America to announce the third kit for the upcoming Clausura 2015 season.

The new jersey mirrors the current home shirt, but it’s lime-green instead of the cream-yellow it currently sports. I’m quite the fan of the shirt’s design, but the color choice is a bit off-putting. Full disclosure, I’m a die-hard América fan so my slight distaste could be due to that, but in a general sense I wasn’t all that enthused with the fluorescent colorway that many of Nike’s clubs rolled out a couple of months ago.

Brasil Away Kit 2014

World Cup 2014 hosts chose a very special opponent to debut their new away kit today, that being the last hosts of the world championships, South Africa. Starting the first half of the match in Johannesburg with their iconic verde-amarela, the Brazilians entered the pitch for the second half for the first time with their new away kits by Nike.

The away kit is in its traditional blue and features tonal horizontal stripes that “celebrate the country’s national pride through a series of tiny geometric circles and diamonds taken from the Brasilian flag. Blue gradients of the stripes add to the jersey’s dynamic style.”

Brazil World Cup 2014 Third Kit by Nike

Brazil WC 2014 Third Kit by Nike_1

For the first time ever, the Brazilian National Team has a complete third kit designed by Nike. It’s an interesting new look for the Brazilian team, who have traditionally worn yellow jerseys with green trims, blue shorts and white socks.

According to Nike:

The kit pays tribute to the dynamic and diverse country, from its natural landscape to its vibrant culture. The third jersey uses a dark, almost black, shade of green, evoking the country’s lush landscape and urban nightlife. The deep hue sets off vivid yellow detailing of the team crest and Swoosh.

Similar to Brasil’s national home jersey, the third uniform displays an illustration on the inside of the collar. Created by Bruno Big, a designer from Rio de Janeiro, the illustration shows a hand in a figa – the Brasilian equivalent to the “fingers crossed” gesture, a traditional superstition believed to bring good luck.

The shorts pay tribute to another sport loved by Brasilians – surfing – with a longer cut than traditional football shorts. Blue, green and yellow horizontal stripes make reference to Brasil’s national flag. Green socks complete the look.

Brazil World Cup 2014 Home Jersey - Nike

Brazil, hosts of next year’s World Cup, are the latest to reveal the Home kit they will be wearing at the tournament. The new jerseys were designed by Nike, using the national team’s customary colors where we’re all used to seeing them; yellow jersey with green trims in the collar and sleeves, blue shorts and white socks. Nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary here but it’s a good looking kit nonetheless, especially considering that this may very well be the jersey the next World Champion will be wearing when the World Cup trophy is raised next July.
