Video: Mumford & Sons – “The Wolf”

posted by Oscar June 30, 2015

Mumford & Sons made their triumphant return to Bonnaroo earlier this month and it was such a major show that it was made the subject of the band’s new video for “The Wolf.” The visuals filmed by Marcus Haney follows the band as they take in the Tennessee festival in costumes as Robin Hood, a fox, a chicken, and a bride, as well as footage of their set as well.

Album Review: Mumford & Sons – ‘Wilder Mind’

posted by Oscar May 8, 2015

For their third studio release, Mumford & Sons ditched their signature Folk-Pop-Rock sound and ventured to the world of “more traditional” Rock music. Going electric was a pretty damn big move for this band and it’s quite justifiable that fans would worry about this transition, but at least the first looks at the new project came with promise of a solid album. Mumford & Sons have shown time-and-again that they are able to write catchy tunes and the challenge they took on with this album was to appeal to a broader audience while keeping day-1 fans satisfied no matter what genre their music can ultimately fall under. This is a tangible test to see whether the band can follow this new direction or if it’s simply a blip that for them would best be left behind. Continue Reading

Album Stream: Mumford & Sons – ‘Wilder Mind’

posted by Oscar May 4, 2015

News of Mumford & Sons’ switch to a more “electric” sound for their forthcoming album raised some eyebrows since their rise to fame was directly connected to their contemporary Pop Folk music. But Wilder Mind has shown plenty of potential with cuts like “Believe,” “Snake Eyes,” and “The Wolf.”

The album was released today but it’s also been made available for streaming in full via Spotify; check that out below. Continue Reading

Mumford & Sons – “The Wolf”

posted by Oscar April 9, 2015

Mumford & Sons today delivered their latest song titled “The Wolf.” The second single off their forthcoming effort Wilder Mind is a Rock song to its core with a prominent riff leading the way. The chorus is classic Mumford, big and catchy plus a real “raise your fist and punch the air” quality to it.

Mumford & Sons – “Believe”

posted by Oscar March 9, 2015

Finally, here’s the new Mumford & Sons tune. After announcing that the band were going in a new direction by “going electric” for new album Wilder Mind, the first cut from that release is titled “Believe.”

For this new single, we see band adopt a sound you’d relate to Coldplay and The National. The song slowly builds for half its length, driven by a mellow guitar arrangement and a keyboard riff until the electric guitar hits it and changes the tempo.

Video: Mumford and Sons & Others – “…Help From My Friends” (The Beatles Cover) at Glastonbury 2013

posted by Oscar July 1, 2013

Mumford and Sons Glastonbury 2013

Modern Folk Rockers Mumford & Sons closed out Glastonbury 2013 in great fashion with a massive cover of a Beatles classic. With a little help (ha! good one, me) from members of the Vaccines, First Aid Kit, and Vampire Weekend, the UK band played The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends.” While this performance was definitely awesome, it was technically a cover of Joe Cocker’s cover of the Beatles’ song he and his band famously played at the original Woodstock. Which gets me thinking, am I the only one that prefers the peppier, less dramatic sounds of the original?

Most importantly, this all-star performance makes a good case for attending music festivals; there’s always a chance you’ll get to witness a bit of magic in the name of Rock & Roll.
