Video: Vampire Weekend Perform “Diane Young” Live on KCRW

posted by Oscar May 17, 2013

Vampire Weekend headed over to NPR’s flagship station, SoCal/LA’s 89.9FM, to perform the band’s lead single “Diane Young.” The gunshot-sounding drums sound a bit more conventional but the voice modifier was still put to use in this live version of the song which still sounds great when played live.

See that performance above.

“Diane Young”

New York band Vampire Weekend headed over to SNL to play two new songs from the soon-to-drop Modern Vampires of the City. The tracks were “Unbelievers” (shown below) and “Diane Young” (above).

The band played a great set and these clips are a must-see especially for fans of the band, but definitely also for anyone curious about the group. I especially recommend “Diane Young,” which sounds like a future Vampire Weekend classic. Continue Reading

Vampire Weekend – Ya Hey (Lyric Video)

posted by Oscar May 3, 2013

Vampire Weekend have released another track from their forthcoming new album, Modern Vampires Of The City. The new track “Ya Hey” only gets the lyric video treatment but at least you see some alright champagne shower footage in the background (just go with it). “Ya Hey” is set to a slower tempo but it also sports the sort of quality that makes it an excellent sing-along song at live shows. The lyrics basically tell you “no one loves, why love anything?” but you still find a way to look past it, and you can’t help be empathize and be part of that act.

Koenig paints the story perfectly in the piano-heavy bridge and rather than have me describe that for ya, check it out above and enjoy it for yourself.
