MGMT Detail New Album and Announce 2018 North American Tour

The final laps towards the release of a new MGMT album is in sight, and today the group shared some more details of the forthcoming Little Dark Age.

The follow-up to 2013’s eponymous album will be released on February 9 on Columbia, with production contributions from Patrick Wimberly and Dave Fridmann. Check out the track list and the band’s mini “making of” movie from their post on Facebook below.

Life Is Beautiful 2017 Lineup Announced, feat. Chance The Rapper, Gorillaz, Blink-182, Muse

The annual Las Vegas music festival Life Is Beautiful has revealed its lineup for the 2017 today and it’s proving to be one of their best ever. This year’s collection is stacked on pretty much every genre, with some of the bigger names including Chance The Rapper, Muse, Gorillaz, Lorde, and Blink-182.

Some of the other dope names on the lineup include MGMT, Cage The Elephant, ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, HAIM, Pusha T, Vince Staples, Sean Paul, Two Door Cinema Club, De La Soul, and THEY.

The festival will take place downtown Las Vegas on September 22-24, and it will also include Cirque Du Soleil, Bill Nye, and a comedy showcase.

Mamby On The Beach 2017 Lineup Announced feat. MGMT, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Saba, Raury

You can feel festival season is just around the corner! Mamby On The Beach has released its 2017 lineup, which boasts MGMT, Local Natives, Misterwives, Walk The Moon, and Flying Lotus as its headliners.

Also on the bill are names likes Miike Snow, Marian Hill, Raury, Sango, and Thundercat. Standing tall repping Chicago in this hometown fest are POD favorites Saba, Ravyn Lenae, oddCouple, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Sir the Baptist.

Panorama Festival 2017 Lineup Announced feat. Frank Ocean, Nine Inch Nails, A Tribe Called Quest

The 2017 lineup for Goldenvoice’s Panomara Festival has been announced, with headliners including Frank Ocean, Solange, Tame Impala, Nine Inch Nails, and A Tribe Called Quest. The fest will take place in Randall’s Island Park on July 28-30.

The New York City music festival will also see performances by Alt-J, MGMT, Future islands, Tyler the Creator, Spoon, and Vince Staples. Chicago’s Towkio and Jamila Woods also made this year’s roster. See the lineup in full on the poster above or on the Panorama website.

Goldenvoice is the company that is also behind Coachella, which this year will have Radiohead, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar as headliners.

The Flaming Lips - With A Little Help From My Fwends

The Flaming Lips took to task putting together a collection of stars to pay homage to the world’s greatest band and play covers of The Beatles’ classic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Some of the highlights in the cast include My Morning Jacket, Ben Goldwasser of MGMT, and Miley Cyrus.

The album is titled With a Little Help From My Fwends and it will be out on October 28th but NPR has made it available for streaming before its official release.

The biggest music festival in the “home country” took place this past weekend with huge performances from the likes of Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Jack White (playing “Lazaretto” above), Metallica and Lana Del Rey. Some of the other notable names on the bill included MGMT, Sam Smith, St. Vincent, HAIM, Warpaint, and James Blake.

MGMT- “Alien Days”

MGMT’s Record Store Day limited-edition release of their new track, “Alien Days” dropped as a cassingle. Most of us weren’t lucky enough to get a copy of the cassette but luckily the band put the new song available for streaming on SoundCloud.

“Alien Days” is the first single from MGMT’s upcoming third LP, set to drop in June, and it features an awesomely trippy sound that comes off as a contemporary take on the psychedelic music of the Sixties. It brings to mind (at least mine) “See Emily Play” by Pink Floyd.
