Arcade Fire feat. Mavis Staples – “I Give You Power”

posted by Oscar January 19, 2017

Arcade Fire hooked up with the legendary Mavis Staples for their collaborative new song, “I Give You Power.” The track premiered on TIDAL, for which they shared on their Twitter that “It’s never been more important that we stick together & take care of each other. Love, Mavis Staples and Arcade Fire.”

“I Give You Power” is a jarring Electronic track, with artsy and faux-futurism vibes. Staples brings a lot of life to this otherwise robotic song. For those who might’ve missed it, the band debuted the track early last year when they played a show outside the Louvre.

All proceeds from it will go to the American Civil Liberties Union. Continue Reading

Video: Tweedy – “Low-Key”

posted by Oscar September 26, 2014

Indie Folk Rock band, Tweedy has released their new visuals for their song “Low Key.” The song is a wonderful composition that build on its title with a cool, laid-back sound very much in the style of Wilco, but it’s the visuals that will get all of the compliments.

This clip definitely deserves a view or two thanks to its classic approach to production, looking as if it were released back when everybody made interesting and entertaining music videos. This is a very “Chicago” affair with the father-son duo trying to rack up some sales of Sukirae by walking around the Windy City, door-to-door, and coming across some interesting characters. The Chicago connections include directorial work by Nick Offerman plus visits to the doors of Chance The Rapper, Mavis Staples, and Liam Cunningham (Marrow; also plays on the road with Tweedy). Other cameos include Conan with Andy Richter and comedian John Hodgman as the executive at “Big Record Label” and Michael Shannon as his assistant.

Fronted by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and featuring his son Spencer on drums, Tweedy’s debut album, Sukirae dropped earlier this month; get it here.
