Dopest Albums of 2016, From Alex

posted by Alex December 26, 2016

As this year comes to a close and lists are brought up, I can’t help but to think of the music projects that shaped my year and made my year so much better. After looking at my list of top albums of 2016, I came to the conclusion that I was more focused on different sounds as well as where each artist’s head was at in the making of their particular project. Yes, The Life of Pablo and Coloring Book are a couple of the top albums of the year, but I’m different and these following works of art have gotten me through this weird 2016. Check em out!

Recap: Mac Miller’s ‘The Divine Feminine Tour’ in Austin, Texas

posted by Ruben November 23, 2016

Mac Miller

This past Monday I was able to catch Mac Miller’s headlining performance at Emo’s in Austin, TX.

I have listened to Mac Miller’s music for a while now and in that time I have seen him grow as an artist. I will be the first to admit that sometimes I was not initially happy with some of the changes along the way, but eventually I grew to appreciate all of Mac’s work. Seeing him live has always helped grow that appreciation

Monday night’s show had two opening acts, one notably being Miller’s DJ, ClockworkDJ. When the time came for the top billing act to perform, the venue was immediately full of energy from the moment Mac hit stage to the second he vowed out, and the crowd really fed from it throughout that journey. Mac’s performance had a bit of everything, from songs like, “Stay,” “Brand Name,” “Weekend,” and “Watching Movies,” to my recent personal favorite, “Dang!” The end of the show came but the crowd was left wanting more, screaming for an encore. Miller’s final act started with “Diablo” and moved along to tracks like “Nikes on My Feet” and “Knock Knock,” from his fourth mixtape, K.I.D.S. This collection of tracks really made the show for me, being a long-time Mac Miller fan. Seeing Mac perform these songs and love doing so is the kind of stuff that puts a smile on my face.

Governors Ball Announces 2016 Lineup feat. Kanye West, The Strokes, Beck

posted by Oscar January 8, 2016

Governors Ball 2016

Festival lineup announcement season is upon us and now that its NYC’s Governors Ball have unveiled their 2016 roster, it’s getting really hard to argue which lineup is better, this one or Coachella’s

The big news is that the festival to be held at Randall’s Island Park June 3-5 will be headlined by Kanye West AND The Strokes. Two of the biggest acts since the turn of the century!! That itself is more than enough to make you want to attend, but the fest organizers have put together some worthy acts to fill out the rest of the schedule that you can get excited about.

Also on the lineup are The Killers, Beck, Death Cab For Cutie, HAIM, Father John Misty, Bloc Party, Miguel, Big Grams, Action Bronson, Mac Miller, Joey Bada$$, Eagles Of Death Metal, De La Soul, Vince Staples, and Vic Mensa. Check out the full roster in the Donda-designed poster above and get your tickets here.

See you in New York!

Mac Miller – “Vienna” (Billy Joel Cover)

posted by Oscar December 29, 2015

Mac Miller - Vienna Billy Joel Cover

Mac Miller has tackled Billy Joel’s “Vienna,” with his version sporting a spooky, reverb-heavy production. The deep, auto-tuned vocals still really work, not playing like a bad deviation from Billy Joel’s warm delivery on the original but rather serving as a dark alternative.

Check out the eerie cover after the jump. Continue Reading
