From the adidas release: “Today adidas unveiled the Pibe de Barr10, inspired by the Barrio of Las Heras, Rosario, where Messi learned to play the game. Designed in collaboration with Rosario-born graphic artist Ignacio Valentini, the Pibe de Barr10 pays tribute to Messi’s childhood. Fusing urban-inspired raw brush strokes with polished sleekness on the synthetic hybrid touch upper, the cleat embodies Leo Messi’s soccer style. The speed traxion stud alignment and outsole are modeled on sprinters’ spikes, to provide the speed and agility to dominate on the pitch. 360˚ DRIBBLETEX coating provides for unprecedented control. In wet or dry conditions, the ball will stick like glue.”
Said Leo Messi:
“I did leave Rosario when I was young, but I still have my people, my neighborhood, and my favorite spots. Pibe de Barr10 have a lot to do with my life, my childhood and a lot to do with me.”

It finally happened… Lionel Messi has broken the record for most goals ever in the Spanish league after scoring a hat-trick today against Sevilla. The previous record-holder was Telmo Zarra, who held the record for nearly 60 years after scoring 251 goals throughout his career.
Messi, just 27 years old and with several good years ahead of him, came into this match needing one goal to tie the historic mark and reached it with a phenomenal free kick. The record-breaking 252nd goal for Messi (seen above) came from a give-and-go play with Neymar that Lio had to slide for to get the ball into the back of the net. The Barça man added one more tonight to extend his tally, and however many goals he makes from now on in league play will be the mark to chase.

Images of the 2013/2014 Nike kits for Spanish champions F.C. Barcelona have been released. Most importantly, the new kits eliminate the 2012/2013’s crappy-looking fading/blending effect made with the respective home and away colors, opting now for solid stripes. The Barça home kit features the same color scheme with a yellow collar, while the away kit is based on the Catalán “Senyera” flag with yellow and red stripes. See the new kits at NikeInc.com.
(101 Great Goals)
Matthew Lowton (Aston Villa) vs. Stoke City
ARVE Error: no id set
Usually, if a goal (in soccer) makes it to the Top 10 on Sportscenter, it’s either a slow news day or it’s a hell of a goal. Frankly, Matthew Lowton’s goal against Stoke City over the weekend was a sensational goal and a potential goal of the year candidate. A Goals of the Week list would be difficult to form without having goals from Barcelona and Real Madrid (Higuaín’s goal coming close to winning top honors this week) and this list is no different. We also have goals from Serie A, the Bundesliga and the MLS. See the rest of the goals on the list after the jump. Read More →
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez (Manchester United) vs. Chelsea
ARVE Error: no id set
Call me biased all you want for picking yet another Manchester United goal as the Goal Of The Week, but this was just spectacular. “Chicharito” scored an excellent header to (momentarily) give his side the lead. Another goal from that match made our list, as well as goals from the Champions League, La Liga and the Brasileirão.
