The Onion and A.V. Club Announce The 2nd Annual ’26th Annual Comedy Festival’

The Onion & A.V. Club have connected again to put together another comedy festival. The 2nd Annual  26th Annual Comedy Festival will run May 26-30 at various Chicago venues and will include stand-up, film screenings, and conversations.

This year’s stand-up lineup includes performances by John Mulaney, Kyle Kinane, Eric Andre, and Joe Mande. The fest also boasts a pair of screenings of Weird Al Yankovic’s cult classic film UHF with Weird Al and director Jay Levey doing post-show Q&As, plus panel discussions with writers from The Onion and The Simpsons (the roster including Al Jean, Bill Odenkirk, and John Frink!). 1st 26th Annual Comedy Fest

Earlier today, The A.V. Club and The Onion announced that they’ve come together and present the 1st annual 26th Annual Comedy Festival. Taking place June 12-14 at Chicago’s Athenaeum Theatre (2936 N. Southport), they’ve put together a stellar lineup that features Comedy Bang! Bang! Live, Tig Notaro, Kyle Kinane, and Marc Maron.

A limited number of three-night passes will go on sale tomorrow, March 25, at 10 a.m. central; three-night purchasers will have access to the best seats in the venue, and will have the option of sitting in the same seat each night. Tickets for individual shows will go on sale this Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m. central.

Just For Laughs Chicago_ jflFor our last night covering the best Comedy Festival around, we picked what would turn out to arguably be the best collection of comedy shows within the festival at Stage 773. On the bill for us were Dancing Around the Shit Fire with Kyle Kinane, Double Threat: Kumail Nanjiani & Friend, and The Super Serious Show and all comedians that night sure made good on what had them draw such crowds to begin with.

Recap: Just For Laughs Chicago at Stage 773 (6/14)

Just For Laughs Chicago_ jflJFL Chicago continued Friday night and I was there to catch some shows at Stage 773. This time around I had to cover the shows solo and while it was still enjoyable, something was telling me that I was setting myself up for something bad.

After getting there a bit later than usual, I hung out at the bar waiting for the next round of shows to start up where I ended up seeing Kumail have to pay $12 for vodka and red bull and so I proceeded to go for the $4 PBR tallboy to get me ready for what was in store for the night.
