See Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna’s Video for “LOYALTY.”

posted by Oscar July 28, 2017

Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna’s collaboration is one of the best from the rapper’s excellent 2017 album, DAMN., so it was only right that these two had to do something exceptional for the “LOYALTY.” music video. The short film-like video was directed Dave Meyers and it features both artists in some bizarre scenes that include asphalt that plays like quicksand, sharks in that asphalt, K.Dot and Riri hanging on I-beams, and even a mob-worthy scene that includes an execution.

Check out the visual from the cut off Kendrick’s double Platinum album above.

Video: See Zane Lowe’s Extensive Interview with Kendrick Lamar

posted by Oscar April 21, 2017

The Gawd of music broadcasting Zane Lowe sat down with Hip Hop gawd Kendrick Lamar for 45-minute plus interview. K. Dot opened about the influence of the pillars of his Hip Hop fandom (Tupac, Jay Z, Eminem) on his writing, the impact of Tupac on both his own career as well as the entire spectrum of Hip Hop, and plenty of analysis and insight about his brilliant new album, DAMN.

Kendrick’s response to Lowe saying “it’s obviously important to you that no word is wasted,” along with his defense for calling himself the greatest rapper alive are two of the many highlights here. Check it all out above via Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show.

See the Video For Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA.” starring Don Cheadle

posted by Oscar April 18, 2017

King Kendrick Lamar followed up a stellar headlining performance at Coachella this past weekend by unleashing a new music video for a track off the newly released album, DAMN. Kendrick’s new video for standout track “DNA.” was directed by Nabil and the Little Homies (Kendrick and Dave Free), and it stars Don Cheadle.

The visual commences with Cheadle and Lamar in an interrogation room, which turns to the famed actor trading off performing some of the lyrics of the track with the Compton rapper. For the final shot you see the whole squad together, leading to ScHoolboy Q walking over to the camera and punching it. S/o to Pitchfork for pointing out that the Chinese characters on the outfit Kendrick’s rocking in the video spell out “Kung Fu Kenny.”

[ALBUM REVIEW] Top Five From Kendrick Lamar’s album, ‘DAMN’

posted by Tali April 15, 2017

As far as it goes, Kendrick Lamar’s unique and constant handwork continues forth. The latest drop of ‘DAMN’ from the young gemini is a much needed release that follows the politically packed To Pimp A Butterfly. Dating back to interviews even prior to TPAB, Kendrick noted being ‘afraid of going broke’, and debated whether his music would ‘stop’ and how he would be able to get by. An idea far from our minds when referring to one of the most influential and highest-ranking rappers of our generation, but a prior insecurity for the artist.

However, this album confirms a new Kendrick. Kung Fu Kenny spits with a similar vibe but a different viewpoint. DAMN showcases the confidence and assertion that his presence is here to stay without question. From Cornrow Kenny to Kung Fu Kenny, the moniker perfectly defines how he’s coming all 2017.

Now, with that said and done, here’s our TOP FIVE:

Kendrick Lamar Announces New Album ‘DAMN.’ and it feat. U2 and Rihanna

posted by Oscar April 11, 2017

Kendrick Lamar has revealed today the name of his forthcoming album and it’s titled: DAMN. The King of Compton let the Hip Hop world know on comeback track “The Heart Part 4” that “Y’all got till April 7 to get y’all shit together” and on that day he announced the April 14 release date for the album (via Aftermath/Interscope/Top Dawg).

With posts to his social accounts, Kendrick not only unveiled the cover art but also the tracklist, which shows that there are only two featured acts on the record. Rihanna will appear on “Loyalty” and, extremely surprisingly, U2 features on a song called “XXX.” This follows last week’s update with the album’s credits which showed that Mike WiLL Made-It, BADBADNOTGOOD, the Alchemist, DJ Dahi, “J. Blake,” Sounwave, and Kaytranada are among the other contributors.

The countdown to April 14th just got us more anxious with these details, and Friday couldn’t come any faster! See the tracklist below. Continue Reading
