Klangstof and Local Natives Take Over The Concord

posted by Rosario Edwards June 30, 2017

With a crowd comprise mostly of people fresh off the beach from Local NativesMamby on the Beach set, the vibes were already very intimate and laid back.

While everyone was certainly excited to see Local Natives perform in a more intimate setting, the Norwegian band Klangstof stole the show.

Drawing comparison to Radiohead, they’re synth driven rock with emotional lyrics perfectly fit the atmosphere at the Concord Music Hall. Many of their songs began with a slow burning build up that erupted into powerful empathic and chaotic release. Standouts included album single “Hostage” as well as “Sleaze” from their current album aptly titled “Close Eyes To Exit“. The band closed their set after lead singer Koen Van de Wardt thanked everyone graciously for joining in their journey as they had traveled all the way from Norway to perform here in Chicago. It was an excellent set and definitely left us looking forward to hearing more from these guys! Continue Reading

Kanye West Surprises us with “BED YEEZY SEASON 5”

posted by Tali February 28, 2017

As many of us were in bed, or twiddling our thumbs of late night scrolls through social media, Kanye West decided to share some new music, VIA SOUNDCLOUD. The 17-minute track, “Bed Yeezy Season 5” was uploaded to Soundcloud around 3:30am, Chicago time; making this the first time its been active in eight months. His re-work of The Dream’s original track, ‘Bed’ is admirable work as always, but unfortunately many are left to ask, “Where’s the verse, Ye?”

Nevertheless, spend your next 17 minutes right:

posted by Oscar December 3, 2016

Soon after releasing his documentary Eyez and announcing a new album is on the way, J. Cole has shared videos for two new tracks “Everybody Dies” and “False Prophets (Be Like This),” both of which appeared as snippets on the doc. The latter seems to be taking shots at Kanye West, evidenced by the verse below:

When he tell us he a genius but it’s clearer lately/ It’s been hard for him to look into the mirror lately/There was a time when this nigga was my hero maybe/That’s the reason why his fall from grace is hard to take/’Cause I believed him when he said his shit was purer and he the type of nigga swear he real but all around is fake

4 Your Eyez Only is out December 9. Check out the video for “Everybody Dies” below. Continue Reading
