Review: J. Cole-Born Sinner

Born Sinner CoverJ. Cole’s follow up album to his 2011 debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story, will be released in about a week. There is a lot of buzz surrounding the new album after Cole pushed the album’s release to compete with Kanye’s Yeezus on June 18th. Cole made it clear that he wanted to compete with Kanye and may have also been inspired by Ye’s marketing when he hosted a listening session with fans in 9 cities at the same time. Cole’s innovative approach may have caused the album to leak, but in this day in age albums leaking before their release is almost inevitable.

20130520-094834.jpgJ. Cole’s artwork for his forthcoming album, Born Sinner, has been released. Check out the cover above and be sure to pick up a copy of his album on June 25th.

Update: J. Cole has moved up the release date of his album. He has changed the date to June 18th. Not sure if it’s a good move to release an album on the same day as Kanye West, but we will find out how it turns out for him soon.

Kanye West Album Title & Release Date

Kanye WestRap-Up is reporting that Kanye’s new album will be titled Yeezus and that the original date he tweeted out, June 18th, will remain as the album’s release date.  Be sure to check out Kanye’s performance tonight on SNL. Check out the site tomorrow for footage of his performance just in case you miss it.

Kanye WestKanye West and Mac Miller took to twitter to announce their new albums that will be released on June 18th. It’s not quite the even match up of J. Cole and Wale on June 25th, but it should be still be a very good day for hip hop. June can’t come soon enough.
