Video: Father John Misty Covers John Lennon’s “God” Live at the Troubador

posted by Oscar December 24, 2015

While performing at the 4th Annual Merry Minstrel Musical Circus in Los Angeles, Father John Misty and the Jonathan Wilson Band performed a tremendous cover of John Lennon’s “God.” This rendition had some modified lyrics, during which Father John sang that he didn’t believe in everything from Obama, Facebook, smoothies, Uber, and Star Wars. Also included? Confetti and Christmas. Quite the list indeed.

Peep the chilling and amusing cover above.

Ron Howard To Direct Documentary About The Beatles’ Touring Years

posted by Oscar July 16, 2014

How’s this for something to look forward to? Acclaimed director, Ron Howard has taken the task to direct a documentary on the biggest and most influential band the world has ever seen: The Beatles.

A press release today details that Apple Corps Ltd., White Horse Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have announced they will produce a new authorized documentary for Apple, based on the first part of The Beatles’ career — the touring years. Along with Ron Howard’s directorial services, the doc will be produced with the full cooperation of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison (John Lennon and George Harrison’s respective widows).

This film will give further look into their journey from The Beatles’ beginnings at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, to their time in Hamburg to their last public concert in Candlestick Park, San Francisco, in 1966.

posted by Oscar April 22, 2014

“It’s all true folks. All you need is love.” The latest edition of PBS Digital Studios’ Blank On Blank series features the late, John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono talking about “love.” There are some pretty cool insights on this and just how life-changing this new love was for him, considering the whole time he’d been writing about “LOVE” with The Beatles, he’d never actually experienced it himself.

posted by Oscar August 13, 2012

16 Days of competition went by, records were broken and many great memories were made in one of the world’s most important sporting events. For the closing ceremony we had a much more pop-y, 90’s-centric lineup that still made for a great show. Check below for the Dopeness Factor of many one of the performers of last night’s ceremony.
